Use Fesenko. You use Fesenko you win the basketball dunk.

So yeah, Harrison Barnes and Ben McLemore are also in the contest making it a 6 player field. Makes it harder for PG to make the finals if its based on judges in the first round, though I sort of get the feeling he'll get the Blake Griffin treatment (aka a lesser dunk by him is better than an unknowns good dunk).

As long as the finals are not determined by fan vote solely again. (although ironically that would help him this time)

Obviously I like PG in this, but don't sleep on John Wall. He can pull off some acrobatic, behind the back and switch hands in mid-air, double pump type stuff.

I guess it may make some sense, Barnes, McLamore and Lillard are in West; George, Ross, and Wall are in East. I would figure the East would dominate, but you never know.

    It's a dumb concept.

Isn't it for charity though? Makes it slightly less dumber if it is.

I think the dunkers should only get 2 attempts to complete a dunk. And the judges should decide the winner, not the fans.

So it's East vs West. First round each guy from each team gets 90 seconds to do as many dunks as they want. After they all go either the East or West wins. After that whoever the winning side is gets to decide to go 1st or 2nd in the next round. 2nd round is a head to head with a guy from each conference, losers eliminated. First side to win 3 head to head is the winner. At the end of it all fans vote on "Dunker of the Night."

This is dumb. Just make it 3 rounds, 45 seconds or so each to complete your dunk, lowest 2 get knocked out each round. A limit on attempts would be nice but that's not gonna happen.

3 point contest: Iso Joe, Beal, Afflalo, Irving, Curry, Bellinelli, Lillard. I got Beal.

I like your optimism... It's a travashamockery of the original contest... But for reasons stated below something like this may be what this competition needs to be a little more interesting... We'll see!

Think I got Lillard in the 3 point contest, and the West destroying the East, hell I'd take Lillard, Curry, or Love over anyone on the East besides Beal.

Got Reggie Jackson/Goran Dragic in skills, and the West destroying the East, Giannis/DeRozan team will make for some entertainment.

Tim Hardaway Jr. in Shooting Stars really?...they must have Tim's dad lined up with him otherwise it makes no sense. Durant and Curry will destroy them.

East will most likely kill though in dunk contest, I do like that fan voting has been mostly taken out besides designating a token "winner".

At least their trying to improve all star weekend...just like the NFL they know things have been down the last couple years so at least they are trying to make things better. Definitely like that there's 3 All Stars in the dunk contest this year. Go Paul!

These kinda deals are always young studs. PG's STILL the lowest pick in it.

It really, really, REALLY, can't be expressed how far outta the park Bird hit the 2010 draft. Long way to go obviously but easily the best NBA draft in our history. Arguable obviously, but we got two top 5 players out of the 10th and 40th picks. Tank for that mofos.

And you know Roy is usually declaring Paul George god's gift to basketball so this is a change in the MO.
So would Roy prefer Paul save more energy for the remainder of the season? I would agree with that, BTW.

You know, Frank could help his own cause by making James and Wade play the full 48 minutes, while our guys get some needed rest. Tire those Heat players out!

I don't get the sentiment that the dunk contest is boring because every dunk has been done already, or that is why they have to use gimmicks. You mean to tell me you guys remember every single dunk ever done in the dunk contest? You guys must have amazing memories. I sure as heck don't and I've watched most of them since the mid 90's. I even had to go back and rewatch VC's dunks because I couldn't remember them. That doesn't even take into account that a large percentage of the dunk contest are kids who didn't even witness those old great dunk contests.

Lose the props and gimmicks, focus on the art and execution of the dunks, throw in some lobs or bounce passes for difficulty, and the crowd will love it.

Lebron really let the fans down by never doing one of these.

Yeah, I don't care for the narrative building that comes from that stuff (not saying you're doing that), but gotta give PG props for still doing it now that he's on the superstar tier.

Yeah, I really don't care that much, but it's just kind of a shame that he never gave it a try. Most of the best high fliers in NBA history have tried it at least once (Dominique, MJ, Dr. J. Kobe, Carter, etc). Lebron has a historically great athletic ability and really could have given this event a shot in the arm if he ever tried. I don't see it happening now though. He's almost 30.

I turned 30 3 weeks ago. This cold does make my knee hurt a little now that I think about it.

Anyway, Lebron's a game dunker type guy, so's PG really. With the dunk contest you need a certain gracefulness, fluidity, Lebron especially is just all power. Which is awesome, but it doesn't look as cool. Honestly I think Vince Carter ruined it for everybody. When you can't look as good dunking as Carter did you've gotta start doing the "technical" stuff, which we all know is otherworldly hard, but it's all about the ascetic.
