Bruno on Bynum. Best update yet. I bolded some bits.

Sounds good. 16 Straight days of going hard, and only minor knee pain on one day. That's great.

Has there ever been a player who's been paid more to play less. (I'm sure there is, but still). At what point is it really not worth it to try to get him acclaimated for a playoff run? Lastly, he's not playing here, but at least he won't be playing in Miami either.

I don't know, isn't Oden averaging like $250K per game played?

Not the most encouraging news on Bynum, either. Almost makes you wonder if we should put LaVoy Allen on the playoff roster instead.

Bobby Bonilla is still getting paid by the way...

However, instead of paying him a lump sum of the $5.9 million they owed him, they decided to defer payment on the contract until 2011, and then pay him over a million a year for 25 years, assuming an interest rate of 8 percent.
    *****ing Mets. LOL

I think this is the link for the Star article referenced earlier (#754). It doesn't say anything that conflicts with Bruno's blog.
    http://www.indystar.com/story/sports...allen/5883611/

Andrew Bynum practiced three-on-three Thursday, and Vogel said he was optimistic the 7-foot center would be ready to play soon. Soon doesn't mean a week from now, the coach said.

Sounds like he just has to get his body in shape for NBA minutes. Winded and all.

So is there a source saying he's 'not close to being ready to play' as UB put it, or was that just UB's read on the above snippet from the Star? Because if it's the latter, I'm still mostly encouraged that he'll probably be playing in a week or two.

I heard Bruno on Dan Dakich show today at noon. Says Bynum seems to be working hard, fitting in well. But he showed up way out of shape to play, so it is going to take awhile.

Kravitz and Bruno were both on with Dan and both if I remember correctly said their sourcres said the same thing

Assuming it's true that Vogel made those comments, I'll take his comments over any other source.

Vogel always made it sound like Danny was weeks/months away, too.

True. He may have believed that though when he said it?

I thought Granger would feel fine before his knee would start bothering him randomly and that's why it took him so long to get back into shape? Or maybe I'm just thinking of last season.

I'm just curious how he went to the point from playing consistently with the Cavs to being so far away from playing. Did he get hurt before the Cavs ended up releasing him?

And, knowing Bynum, he probably subsisted on pizza rolls and Mountain Dew for that entire six weeks.

Yeah... but he was ultimately right. Danny missed the first 25 games of the season after hurting his calf.

Larry is not coming back, he didn't have a meeting with Orlando for not reason, yeah he is coming back to the NBA but not to the Pacers, the notion that he is a taking a year off and then come back is absurd.

Even with the calf injury Vogel talked like Danny may not be back for the playoffs

Always easier to tell people it's going to be a while, and bringing players back early, than it is to give people a date and then miss it.
Just because you're offended, doesn't mean you're right. ― Ricky Gervais.

What if someone from a school of business or management school were to ask, How did you do this? How did you get the Pacers turned around? Is there a general approach you've taken that can be summarized?

    Larry Bird: Yeah, patience.
