He will either be accepted or rejected by this team. This reminds me of Rasheed Wallace joining the Pistons. Head case? Well, you know the end of that story. Then there is Zach Randolph. Head case? Most definitely but look how he turned out. Bynum's issues will be his knees. That is the main reason I have low expectations.

Love the twitter updates here.... nice to not have to sift through everything else to read them.

absolutely love this. Bynum was a beast just a couple years ago. The Pacers seemed like the perfect fit for him, and apparently he agreed. Great chance to win a ring, great locker room, and since he's coming in as a backup, there isn't the pressure on him to carry the team. I could see him playing a huge role in the playoffs. So excited.

I like hearing from PG and I believe him. They'll know if he will fit in or not and I have to believe they will get him out if not.

I'm positive on this signing because it doesn't seem like Bynum came here for the money. It sounds like he chose to come here because it was the best situation for him to regain credibility in the league & contribute to a team that is championship relevant. Assuming they had interest he could have easily gone to South Beach or LA and covered the contender part of the equation. Instead he chose to come to Indy. I get the strong feeling he chose to come here for the right reasons.

Barring injuries this could be our "poor mans" version of the Rasheed Wallace move.

I don't think too highly of Bynum's ability to help on the court, as I am not sure he is a clear upgrade from Mahinmi, but I do like that we kept him from Miami. He's big enough and bulky enough to help keep Roy from going bananas on that frontcourt.

When Bird said that he was going "All In" this season.....he wasn't kidding.

I just have a bad feeling that this will be a "one and done" type roster that Bird has built. Unless Copeland is moved in the next 2.5 weeks without losing any of the current core of Players......I REALLY think that there will be a drastic move that will need to be made ( or not made ) that would alter this roster enough where we may not end up being as deep as are now.
Every team that contends for a long period of time always has that one year in which their roster was clearly at it's best. This is probably that year for us. Will this team be as stacked next year? No, it looks like that will be almost impossible. But we just have to hope that we can keep enough of the core together to compete for a long time. Any team with PG and Hibbert is going to win some games, and hopefully we find a way to keep Lance. We'll be fine with a trio like that. Regardless, with Miami being vulnerable while going for their fourth straight Finals, THIS is the year that you go all in on a title. We don't know what will happen in the future, but we do know that our chances are pretty damn good this year. When our roster inevitably weakens a bit next year, we'll just have to deal with it. The 2000 Pacers were not the best team of the Miller era, but they got further than anyone else. We're going to be in position to make deep playoff runs for a long time.

That being said, I love what Bird is doing this year. His number one goal when coming back was to win the 2014 championship instead of worrying about the future. Bird spent 2008-2012 making moves with the future in mind, but our priorities are different now. It's all about hanging our first NBA championship banner this season. Everything else will have to be dealt with later.

I'm not sure I like this deal. I just hope we can turn his career around for the better.
There are only 2 Organizations in the NBA that has the best chance of turning his career and perspective towards Basketball around in the span of 5 months.

Bynum just signed with one of them.

Players are probably just upset that they sucked so bad lately we had to make this move

Not surprising at all...and why i say its a bit higher risk than many are saying...

Very, very tight knit group....being forced to bring in someone with a bad rep...and likely will come at the expense of one of their own....yea...not surprising theres quite a bit of hesitancy and possibly skepticism...

Now its time for the guys getting paid the big bucks to make sure this turns out ok no matter how it plays out....Bird, Vogel, Kellogg, PG, Hibbert, West, Granger and Hill....those guys will determine how this all ends up...whether its a homerun or bust the championship chances cannot get worse no matter what if those aforementioned guys step up...

Could very well be them being focused on the game tonight and not wanting to be distracted by all the questions.... thus something like:

He should be a clear upgrade on the offensive end...he can catch the ball and definitely has some semblance of low-post game, in spite of his injuries....defensively his knees have definitely slowed him down and make it a much more interesting conversation regarding he and Ian on that end of the floor...theyre different...3 years ago it wouldnt be a conversation...now...theyre just different and will bring different things to the floor on the defensive end...

Well, the only thing worse than that would be if he signed with us and clotheslined LBJ. Wink-wink.

Put another way, at least we know James wouldn't be flopping.
