He's overconfident in his abilities on offense and, as a result, he's nonchalant at times and makes a few ill advised shots. He's also a bit inconsistent. But it's a fine line. You need that confidence to be truly great.
He probably could stand to eliminate the no-look passes that become one of his many turnovers. With that said, he's a great player and probably the best Pacer of all time. I really think we need to look in the mirror and see how easy it is to criticize.
I have to call BS here.
Only 25 players in the entire league (out of ~475) average 5 or more assists. 18 of those are point guards.
That leaves 7 players in the entire league who are not point guards averaging 5+ assists per game.
That list is:
SF Lebron James 6.5
SG Goran Dragic 6.1
SG Monta Ellis 5.9
SF Nicolas Batum 5.5
SG Lance Stephenson 5.3
SF Kevin Durant 5.3
SG Joran Crawford 5.1
One of those 7 is already on our team, and only 3 small forwards (Paul's position) in the entire game are averaging 5 assists a game.
But sure, if you're the primary scorer on your team and are not a guard, and you don't get 5 assists a game, than you're a ball hog. Got it.
EDIT: It only took me about a minute to look this up by the way.
Also, Paul George is 6th in the NBA in assists among small forwards. Could he be better? Of course. But he is not the primary playmaker on the team and he's not the point guard. Your 5-assist argument is bunk.

Paulhog has less assists than Money Ellis? Monta used to be known exclusively for ball-hogging.

Honestly I think we should trade PG, maybe we can get true scorer like Melo or something.
This is ridiculous.
Does that necessarily follow? An offense with a point guard getting the highest usage rate is entirely different from one with a center getting it. Whether a player passes off ot not depends on his role in the offense, not how often he touches the ball compared to his teammates.

Yes PG has less assists than the second-leading assist making shooting guard in the entire league. Boo freaking hoo.
The nickname isn't going to stick, sorry bro. There's a word for what you're doing here and I think we all know what it is.
Melo usually brings it offensively every game and our weakness is going through stretches where we don't score. But that was just one possibility, we could target guys like Eric Gordon, Kawhi Leonard, Batum from Portland, Thaddeus Young from the 6ers, Chandler Parsons or maybe Gordon from the Jazz if we have no other takers.
I'm sorry folks but PG's game just isn't that good.
To be fair I named about 5 other guys we could trade PG for.
Look, I think Paul is an awesome player. Maybe I am being too tough on him, I am glad he is a Pacer and wouldn't trade him for anyone minus Durant. The whole point of the forum is to discuss a team. Every other player gets discussed, and I see no reason why it is ridiculous to discuss PG's struggles. Lets look at his stats over the season to this point.
Here are some advanced stats.
It just seems it is just as much mental as physical to me. I'd like to see his usage rate around 25, as opposed to up near 30 in January. The all star break will do him good, but it will be nice if he is able to break out of this slump, which is going on a month now, with the exception of the one 6 game stretch.
I watch enough games to know we go through stretches where we cannot score because our all-star can't put the ball in the basket.
While Paul will get his act together, Lance Stephenson has been the best player on this team in 2014.
