Man, if we could land Mack and Nicks, that would be a pretty awesome off-season.
There are two types of quarterbacks in the league: Those whom over time, the league figures out ... and those who figure out the league.
Vince Wilfork wants out of New England
As big a deal as the Patriots made last night, they might be on the verge of having a bigger hole.
According to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, Wilfork has asked the team for his release, after 10 seasons.
The team approached him once about restructuring his contract, but that didnít go far. Heís scheduled to make a base salary of $7.5 million this year, and count $11.6 million against the salary cap.
That is a number they donít want to pay for a 31-year-old coming off an Achilles injury.
How they handle this one will be interesting, because they need that number off the books, but theyíd also blow a huge hole (pun absolutely intended) in the middle of their defense by letting him go.
If they lose Wilfork, Brady will be the only player left who won a ring with the Pats.
I can't say I blame them I mean he's 33 years old coming off an achilles injury that's risky.
I'd be hella into Wilfork he can hold down NT for us for a few years.
Counting down the days untill DJ Augustin's contract expires.
OT Rodger Saffold and Rams reached agreement on 5-yr, $31.7M deal that includes $19.5M gtd. Saffold has option to void deal after 3 years.— Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) March 13, 2014
So we signed phil Costa, hopefully this is just for depth, I don't want him as our starter... at alll
Why so SERIOUS
I'm just catching up...
So Bethea to 9'ers and Donald Brown to the Chargers.
Nuntius was right. I was wrong. Frank Vogel has retained his job.
"A player who makes a team great is more valuable than a great player. Losing yourself in the group, for the good of the group, thatís teamwork."
Going to be more than upset if he's the starter
Don't ask Marvin Harrison what he did during the bye week. "Batman never told where the Bat Cave is," he explained.
I think he's our new Mike McGlynn.
http://blogs.colts.com/The Indianapolis Colts today signed free agent center Phil Costa.
“Phil is a young, hard-nosed and physical center who has shown he can play at a winning level in our league,” said General Manager Ryan Grigson. “He will provide strong competition at the center position.”
Costa, 6-3, 302 pounds, played in 26 games (20 starts) over the last four seasons (2010-13) with the Dallas Cowboys. In 2011, he started all 16 games for the first time in his career and blocked for quarterback Tony Romo to throw for 4,184 yards, 31 touchdowns and a career-high 102.5 passer rating. Costa also helped block for a Cowboys offense that ranked fifth in the NFC in passing yards and eighth in total yards and rushing yards.
Costa was originally signed by the Cowboys as an undrafted free agent out of the University of Maryland on April 30, 2010. At Maryland, he played in 40 career games, including 30 starts, at the guard and center positions.
I doubt that they want to waive a premier player in the near future as some teams against the cap are doing now. You may not like someone like Costa as starting but he may be a short term answer. Any body is better than Satele
First off there is no luxury tax in the NFL, there is a hard cap, 2nd Costa contract is only 2 years which won't matter when Lucks contract comes into play, and honestly the comment about a rookie or second year guy if it is not him is a given, Grigson already said it is a competition. This is why he is not getting paid much because it is a competition, he is not locked in for the starting spot, but her is there to push competition and provide depth and that is what the amount of his contract suggest.
Some of these premier players are being waived because the team gave them stupid contracts and they didn't want to pay at the end of the day, Browns were not against the cap when they waived Jackson. But honestly you have to invest money in your center, he is so valuable and if you don't and someone does not step up you are in big trouble, going through the center is the quickest path to the QB.
And I am with Hypnotiq, we will see what happens as far as worst than Satele, not saying he will be but there really is not much to say that he won't be.
Why so SERIOUS
Just for reference sake Mike McGlynn got the same contract.
