McGlynn appeared in 15 games, starting 14 times, for the Indianapolis Colts
last season. The year prior, he started all 16 games for the Colts.

Report: Steelers strike two-year deal with LeGarrette Blount

The Steelers got the backfield help they wanted.

Aaron Wilson of National Football Post reports the Steelers reached a two-year deal with Patriots running back LeGarrette Blount on Friday.

Blount comes off a productive one-season stint with New England, which acquired him late last April. Blount proved a key addition to the Patriots’ backfield, gaining 772 yards and scoring seven touchdowns in regular season play. He played especially well in the latter stages of the season, highlighted by a four-TD performance against the Colts in the divisional playoffs.

Blount (6-0, 250) will be the primary complement to Le’Veon Bell in the Steelers’ backfield. His departure from New England leaves Stevan Ridley, Shane Vereen and Brandon Bolden as the Patriots’ top three tailbacks.

Grigson thinks Lance Louis will compete for a starting spot at guard.
    http://www.indystar.com/story/colts-...oster/7020979/

Here's a small sample of the article:
"I was sitting watching the Bears (on tape) with Tom Telesco when we were preparing for them," Grigson said. "I look at the tape and I said, 'Who's No. 60?' I look him up in the system and the guy ran a 4.72 (40-yard dash) at 309 (pounds) coming out of San Diego State. He was faster than some of the receivers who are going to go in the second round this year.

"So, we're watching that and we're thinking, in free agency, this guy is going to break the bank because he's the best player on their line. He gets his knee blown out and things change. We stayed on him all (last) year and the knee's fine now and we have him here for two years. Hopefully he gets back to that level of play where he's a good starter. He's a guy who is completely off the radar who we're optimistic about."

No way I want him on the roster in any fashion. I'm convinced that that the coaching staff couldn't have resisted the temptation to start him at guard this year. For a "brawler" and a "mauler" (as described by the staff) McGlynn spent a huge amount of time moving backwards or on his a$$.

You are correct that McGlynn did out play Satele at Center last year yet the staff was unable to recognize that basic fact and never appropriately reacted to it. We do have to give Grigson some credit in this situation. He acknowledged the coaching staff was unable to make objective decisions with these two stiffs and just removed them from the roster.

It's not as if we have someone who is proven to be better than McGlynn at C and if one of the two presently on the roster competing for the job gets hurt we will be even worse off. So getting rid of him makes little sense. He is at least insurance.

    DHB to the Steelers.

PITTSBURGH -- The Pittsburgh Steelers added size and speed at wide receiver on Wednesday when they signed Darrius Heyward-Bey to a one-year contract.

The team took to Twitter to announce the signing:

Kurt Coleman expected to visit Colts on Friday

The Colts saw veteran safety Antoine Bethea sign with the 49ers earlier this offseason, leaving them with a hole next to LaRon Landry in their secondary.

Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports that they’ll be meeting with a candidate for the job on Friday. Kurt Coleman is expected to visit with the team, a few days after he visited with the Jets.

Coleman was a seventh-round pick by the Eagles in 2010 and played in 59 games with the Eagles over the last four years. He started 29 of those games, but none in 2013 as the Eagles shuffled through a variety of safeties in hopes of finding solid play that never came. That provided a pretty clear idea about their interest in bringing him back even before they signed Malcolm Jenkins this offseason.

General Manager Ryan Grigson worked in Philly before going to Indy, so there’s familiarity with Coleman’s abilities. If Coleman does sign with the Colts, it’s a good bet that they’ll still look for help at the position in the draft as Coleman would be a stopgap option, at best, for a team with designs on a third straight trip to the postseason.

    Lions sign Cassius Vaughn

The Lions need plenty of help at cornerback, and they just got some.

Cassius Vaughn, a free agent cornerback who spent the last two years in Indianapolis, is signing with Detroit. It’s a one-year contract, according to Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press.

Last year Vaughn played in all 16 games, starting four, and had three interceptions and a forced fumble. He was a regular starter in 2012 and picked up an AFC Defensive Player of the Week award.

The Lions have struggled to find consistent, healthy starters at cornerback for years. Vaughn will join a cornerback corps that also includes Chris Houston, Darius Slay, Bill Bentley, Jonte Green and Chris Greenwood.

I note that several of the draft models do not have a C listed in the first round. So who are the better draft prospects at C that we might be able to grab? I do not believe the team line on who we have on the roster.

Martin from USC is the main one people are focused on, but I am thinking we are not going that direction, the front office really has hopes in Khaled Holmes so we will see.

Edit: I should add that if Holmes can start showing some of the stuff he did his junior year he will be a decent center for us, sr year tape was horrible in my eyes when projecting him to the NFL, that injury really hurt his game.
    Why so SERIOUS

No Kurt Coleman for the Colts.

    === Vikings bring in S Coleman ===

Eden Prairie, MN (SportsNetwork.com) - The Minnesota Vikings signed safety
    Kurt Coleman on Thursday.

The 25-year-old Coleman started 27 games for Philadelphia from 2011-12,
recording six interceptions. He amassed 10 tackles in 15 games last season as
a reserve for the Eagles after ranking second on the club with a career-best
    105 tackles in 2012.

Philadelphia selected the Ohio State product in the seventh round of the 2010
    NFL Draft.

There's an article on the Star web site about mock draft projections for the Colts. It named at least 3 safeties that mockers have us taking. Don't remember their names.

We signed a safety. Sounds like a special teamer.

    === Colts add S Anderson ===

Indianapolis, IN (SportsNetwork.com) - The Indianapolis Colts have agreed to
terms with free agent safety Colt Anderson, the team announced Monday.

Anderson comes to Indianapolis following a four-year stint with the
Philadelphia Eagles, where the 28-year-old primarily made his mark on special
teams. He totaled 46 special-teams tackles over that period, including a team-
    best 16 in 2013.

An undrafted free agent, Anderson also started six games for the Eagles and
recorded four pass defensed, two forced fumbles and one interception.

Current Colts general manager Ryan Grigson was Philadelphia's director of
player personnel when the Eagles signed Anderson off the Minnesota Vikings'
practice squad in November of 2010.
