He is overrated. He is flashy and not a winner. This isn't like Lebron in Cleveland with no supporting cast. He is an above average influencer in the game. He disappears. He pouts. He mouths off to his teammates.

I'm sure the way the Bennett draft pick worked out might have something to do with Irving's attitude. Make a decent pick there, Cleveland is better and the hope for the future isn't as bleak as it is now. Bennett was just a horrible selection.

Cue the Irving to the Lakers rumors.....

    Now.
That was the first thing that came to mind for me. Of course, that would be operating under the assumption that he would want to go to LA. There is a weird sense that 100% of NBA players prefer Los Angeles to every other city in the country.

Two things, first, I was firmly in the PG over Kyrie camp last year. It ain't a point guard's league.

Secondly, Kyrie has been terrible for much of this year. He is so bad right now that there are Cavs fans that WANT to trade him and play Waiters at point guard. I think that's a ridiculous opinion, but it just shows how slumpy Kyrie has been this year. It's such a weird drop off from him too.

He'll sign his five year max in Cleveland sometime in late summer.
It would be unprecedented for Irving to take a one year qualifying offer. That's simply not happening. But I could see the only way Irving agreeing to an extension is if it's one of the short 4 year, player option after year 3 maximum extensions (like LeBron, Wade, and Bosh took, and most recently Kevin Love got). He can get that deal in restricted free agency.

We'll trade you George Hill & Cope

Oh, that won't work under the salary cap? Oh well
Hill, Stephenson, Scola for Irving & Varejao.

This. Remember how badly Eric Gordon wanted out of New Orleans? He's still there. Granted, Gordon's trade value is much lower than Irving's, but still. Irving isn't going anywhere for a while.
    Gordon didn't stay by choice.

What the hell? I come in here to read your convoluted, one-sided trade proposal and you let me down like this? I thought I knew you man. I thought I knew you.

LOL! Well today I was fiddling with the trade machine, a Granger to Detroit for the expiring contracts of Rodney Stuckey and Charlie Villenueva would be a good move. Projected bench....

Hmm I don't think there are many realistic Cavs fans (this could be a statement in itself lol) that want Waiters to play over Kyrie. They for the most part seem to know that Kyrie is a star and that Waiters cannot create for others.

Sorry to add on so late but didn't I read somewhere that some GMs would prefer the current Syracuse PG Ennis to Irving?

Probably. Irving is an incredible offensive talent, but his opponent per this year is ~18.5. That means that if you look at it from an all-star perspective, Kyrie's "man" should have been voted as a starter this year.

Try to tell that to a Knicks fan.
