Let's take a step back here. This is the same Chad Ford that has guaranteed that Danny would not be in a Pacers uniform for almost 7 years running.

I'd tend to believe its true, they have a terrible coach, terrible organization, terrible team, terrible draft picks to surround him with. I'd be surprised if he didn't take a one year deal so that he can hit the open market sooner in UFA.

He'll sign his five year max in Cleveland sometime in late summer.

This. Remember how badly Eric Gordon wanted out of New Orleans? He's still there. Granted, Gordon's trade value is much lower than Irving's, but still. Irving isn't going anywhere for a while.

Cue the trade proposals for Granger.

As much as I post trades in this forum, this is one player that I would NOT want in a Pacers uniform. He's terrible. He takes about as many bad shots as Steph Curry does. Except most of them don't go in!

What the hell? I come in here to read your convoluted, one-sided trade proposal and you let me down like this? I thought I knew you man. I thought I knew you.

Of course he is. You cant keep wasting picks and have players stay committed. If he wants out he will have to play hardball and probably get traded somewhere like NY

I gotta admit, I missed the boat on this guy. Not that he's playing terribly, mind you, but this time last year the question was posed, who would you rather have, Paul George or Irving, and I had said Irving. At the time, Irving was really looking like a dynamic, dominant point guard, possibly a future top-3 player in the league. He seems to have leveled off after last year, maybe even regressed a bit. PG meanwhile has stepped up several levels.

The only surprise is that it took this long for him to want out.

Am not sure why, but whenever something like this happens that could cause
Dan Gilbert a headache, I get some sort of perverse pleasure from it.

I was the one who started that thread. The jump that Paul made in the playoffs last year, along with the continued improvement this year, makes it look silly now. But at this time last year, it was really hard to see that jump coming so soon.

Does Cleveland want Irving in a Cavs uniform? That is my question. If I was Cleveland I would be more than happy to send he and Waiters out of town. Kyrie is a rich man's Stephon Marbury. You will never win it all with your 6 ft shooting guard disguised as a pg shooting the ball 25 times per game.

Is there any way Chris Grant has a job after this season? Drafting Bennett number 1, and teaming up Kyrie, Waiters and bringing in Andrew Bynum. I mean, did anyone legitmaetly think that was going to work?

I feel bad for the fans in Cleveland. Granted their generally pessimistic(cloaked as "objective") attitude as a group kind of brings this crap on them, but damn, they can't get a legit winner. Even when they had a once-in-a-lifetime talent on their Bball team, the FO surrounded him with such garbage it damn near negated his impact.

A vocal minority of their fans have already started calling him Kyrie Franchise, in reference to Steve Francis. Idiots don't stay objective. The trade machine is whirring up on Cavs boards right now.

Dude's 21. He's far from a finished product. Where were Paul and Lance at 21? Paul was putting it together but struggling on offense and Lance looked like a guy that wouldn't be much more than a bench player the rest of his career. It goes to show how great a situation TPTB in Indy has installed and what having character vets around can do for a team. The guy the Cavs went out to get as their "locker room guy" this past offseason? Jarrett Jack. Now, I don't think Jack is a terrible player(he'd be ten times better if he passed the ball just two more times a game) but he's not a David West.

Still early to judge the young Kyrie, but wow me picking Paul George back then looked like a big gamble that paid off lol.

Cleveland's a mess right now looking at how they are shaping up this season. With lots of top picks for consecutive years should at least make them a decent playoff contender by now. Can't blame the guy for wanting to leave even though he has a good amount of responsibility for their current struggles.

He is still very young. I was a huge fan of him last year. But since then, what's sort of thrown a flag for me is that in his 3 years, he hasn't really *improved* a lot. He has all the talent in the world... but maybe the ceiling isn't as high as we thought. Maybe he was already fairly close to his ceiling when he entered the league. That was the unknown factor. As of last year, I thought Irving was the more special player, in that time frame. But much to my delight, PG continues to increase his production by roughly 6 pts/game every year he's in the league, while Irving has increased his production by roughly 1 pts/game every year. The improvement incline has been way steeper for PG than Irving.

It's his defense. His offense has taken a step back because he's trying(not really succeeding) to become a better defender.

The Lebron rumors of him returning to Cleveland can be killed if this is true about Kyrie wanting out.

I don't mean to demean him at all, I'm still a fan, and I still think he's a great young player with a lot of potential, and hell he could still end up being a top player in this league. Hell, he's an all-star starter this year.

They should've been killed the minute whoever started them said it.
