Simon enterprises has budgets to live up too just like you and I. At what point do you decide to rob "Peter to pay Paul"? And do you still remember what that leaves you with? As much as I enjoy Lance and hate to see him leave us, a $10 plus million dollar contract with the normal raises not only puts the Pacers in LT for the next year, but makes it impossible to keep or replace Scola, Granger, or Ian the following season. Then Roy comes up for renewal and D. West has a player option to stay or go. Soon you have starting 5 making $65 Million and trying to fill your roster keeps you in LT for a long time. Not to mention, if Herb Simon can make his Corp. 92 million extra by selling, he might decide that he no longer wants to own them.

If Simon was to subsidize the Pacers going into LT territory the money would not come from Simon Enterprises. The stockholders would not appreciate it for one and not to mention it would be illegal.

Any "subsidy" would have to come from Simons personal wealth.
