The dramatic rhetoric the author uses elsewhere in this article make it hard for me to believe that blood was "pouring" from his mouth. My sister lost both of her front baby teeth in a bike accident, and while there was blood, it wasn't nearly a bloodbath on par with what this author was describing.

Not excusing this guy's actions by any means, but parents are growing increasingly protective and nuttier these days. As a 20-something with no kids, I'm irritated by EVERYTHING having to be kid friendly these days, but you don't see me writing articles in a newspaper about it. At a Pacers game I attended recently (I believe against the Clippers or Spurs, a couple years ago) some kid was screaming and banging those thundersticks right behind my wife the whole game to the point where her ears were constantly ringing. I politely asked the Dad to the tell his kid to tone it down, and judging by the Dad's reaction you would have think I was marketing Jerry Sandusky babysitting services. Heaven forbid anyone interfere with junior's night out. Just grates me. When I was growing up I was always told to be seen and not heard and not interfere with what adults are doing. Now the needs of kids are frequently front and center. This doesn't necessarily apply to the situation above, but I'm convinced its symptomatic of it.

Lol, this was one of the best posts I've read on here in a while.

If I had a dollar for every time I saw a 4-7 year old get knocked over by an adult in a mall, I'd probably have 15 or 20 bucks and it would be 17-18 more dollars than I would have from the same deal at a Pacers game.

I also am not sure what this unnamed villain did to be labeled a carousing bozo, at worst it soudns like he was maybe goofing around with his buddy in the stands and tripped and feel in the very narrow balcony aisles? GOD FORBID. Yes he made a mistake, but it sounds like he apologized for it and was ignored, what did he have to do to atone for his sins? Surgically implant junior's baby tooth? I mean calling the guy a carousing bozo when he apologized seems extremely unfair considering she doesn't even really know what lead to the incident.

The irony of all of this is that I think the Pacers have gone to far and above to make the games "family friendly" since they have moved to the fieldhouse. But I freely admit to being a snob who would prefer that it all be about the game happening on the court.

My comment online was that with the rake of the seats in the balcony and the lack of legroom between rows it is extremely easy for a perfectly sober fan to trip and fall. I've seen it a lot.

The vast majority of the comments assume the alcohol and blame it for the incident. Seems like the only thing to do is to punish everyone by banning alcohol. Then, at least, when someone falls down two rows they could blame it on a heart attack from the cost of the hot dogs.

I see it happen all the time in stores so that have clothing racks. Kid will be standing around a rack unseen adult turns the corner too fast, bumps into the kid, kid goes down. I know it's not the exact same thing, but my point is that your kid is exposed to all kinds of possibly dangerous situations. It's not like a Pacers game is that extreme.

Or he could have just stumbled. I always get a little worried shuffling my size 13s around. It's even better when people decide that they'd rather stay in their seat and have you crawl over their lap.

Its a new take on the old classic "cow tipping".

Whenever I'm in a mall, I run up to 4-7 year olds and push them over. He must frequent the same malls that I do...even though I'm in NC. 0_0

The balcony is made for tripping. I hate walking up and down those steps.

    Who uses the word "bacchanalias"?
Apparently she knows multiple people are well versed is in ancient Roman culture. I find it hard to believe that multiple people have described Pacer games in such a fashion.

The article is a trash piece written by somebody who as access to do such a thing. Its a whiny look at me pity party. This is something you post on Facebook. "Look what happened to Junior at a Pacers game!" w/ pic for proof.

I tried to leave a comment, but I don't think it worked.

The editor seems to actually be reading those comments, so I wanted to make a point that I am tired of the Stars continued agenda of keeping people away from Pacer games.
I can never get the comments to work from the star itself. I can get to the comments on facebook, though.

Is the word "rake" a typo or is that some new fancy word I am unaware of?

If I fell over a seat or two onto a kid I would be much more apologetic than it sounds like the fan was. But again we only have the mother's account here.

I guess I just don't understand why the guy could have done. It sounds to me like the mother and father gave him no heed to do anything.

"Rake" refers to the angle of the seats as they rise in an arena or theater (used to be the stage itself was angled up, which is why toward the back is called "upstage" and the front is "downstage").

Yeah, I've done that before, but when I do it I lose all of my saved passwords for sites that I care about. For me, it's just not worth the trouble. Is there a way to do it where you only clear your Star cookies?
