I really like Pat Mac but is starting out at $3 million worth it for your punter?

No it's not. The guy is a good dude and good in the community(other than Broad Ripple...lol), but we have so many areas to address in the off season that we can't be throwing away good money on a punter. Especially a punter who has under-performed lately. I think even Pat would admit to that. I haven't followed his stats this year, but I would guess he's a middle of the road punter in the NFL. He was advertised as a real weapon when he came here. Time to make the tough decisions and move on. We need every bit of money we can muster to fill the many holes in this team.

Mike Chappell reports that the Colts have 2 restricted free agents and 3 exclusive free agents.
    http://www.indystar.com/story/sports...eturn/4460753/

CB Josh Gordy and OL Joe Reitz are Restricted free agents, which would require draft-pick compensation if the Colts make a one-year offer.

LB Cam Johnson, LB Scott Lutrus and LB Justin Hickman are Exclusive free agents; if the Colts offer a one-year contract, they can't sign with another team.

•S Antoine Bethea: 29 - Cya Bethea has lost a step or 5 liability in passing situations and we need a true pass coverage safety to compliment Landry.

•RB Donald Brown: 26 - Will get a better offer from another team

We need about any help at running back. We cannot go into the season with Trent being our number one guy. I would not mind taking a later pick and getting a running back, but I could see bringing Bradshaw back if the price is right. Ballard is coming off ACL injury and who knows if he will be right.

The one thing I worry about Vontae is how inconsistent he is going to be. He is our number one corner and they do not come cheap.

I would definitely like to keep DB if the price is right. I do not see him getting a big offer though. It is not like he just blew up and had an amazing year. The league is a passing league and I do not see many teams investing to much money in a running back. I see DB testing free agency, but ultimately signing a short term deal here.

I think we got to re-sign Adam. The guy is still kicking great and having a reliable kicker is just nice to have. Pat needs to be kept at the right price.

How does a punter belong in the stay for sure category? You can draft a punter and save $$

Yeah, I agree. We just happen to have one of the few punters in the league who has a recognizable personality, but we have to look past that when making a business decision.

Hard to draft a punter when we have so few draft picks

If you're worried about players coming off of injury, then how is Bradshaw the solution? The guy can't stay healthy.
Just because you're offended, doesn't mean you're right.” ― Ricky Gervais.

What if someone from a school of business or management school were to ask, How did you do this? How did you get the Pacers turned around? Is there a general approach you've taken that can be summarized?

    Larry Bird: Yeah, patience.

Something to remember about ol' McApunt dude was an all american Kicker AND PUNTER in college. I would not be surprised to see us pay the man and have him pull double duty once the big V retires.

How many times did Pat save a big play by making a tackle? That is worth something and doesn't show up on his punting stats, JMO

I think you likely have to decide between Bradshaw or Brown but we will keep one. Wonder how Vick looks in his rehab.

I don't think they keep either but the easy choice is spending 2.5 or 3 mill on Bradshaw than Brown who will command much more money IMO.

The guard spot will be interesting since they will want to sign a guy who can play Tackle in a pinch. Thats something to consider since that was Links job.

Where did I say Bradshaw was the solution? I said it would be nice to have him back. I guess I should have put the caveat in there if he is healthy.

Ideally we upgrade the OL and bring back DB to be the starter because I do not trust Trent.

Interesting.... Pat made a little over 2.9 million last year and Adam made 3.4 million. Is it possible to go old school and have Mac do both? We saw Brady place the ball just in our last game and of course you can't forget the famous Romo botch so there's no rule on who the holder has to be.

He still practices kicking field goals. He's even tweeted about how he would like a shot at the record for longest FG one day.
