    in Bird I trust

If he wants to pull the trigger on this for low money/AB getting to join a winner, then I have to give him the benefit of a doubt.
The poster "pacertom" since this forum began (and before!). I changed my name here to "Slick Pinkham" in honor of the imaginary player That Bobby "Slick" Leonard picked late in the 1971 ABA draft (true story!)

Agreed, though I doubt this is going to happen.

    Yeah, there's nothing here.
Welcome to Pacers Digest! New around here? Here are three tips for making the forum a great place to talk about Pacers basketball.

    • Log in. Even if you want to read instead of post, it's helpful because it lets you:
    • Change your signature options. You can hide all signatures by choosing "Settings" (top right) then "General Settings" (middle left) and unchecking the box "Show Signatures" (in the "Thread Display Options" area).
    • Create an ignore list. I know it may seem unneighborly. But you're here to talk about the Pacers, not argue with someone who's just looking for an argument. Most of the regular users on here make use (at least occasionally) of the "Ignore" feature. Just go to "Settings" -> "Edit Ignore List" and add the names.

    Enjoy your time at PD!

The only way I would be okay with this is if we could cut him with no consequence. I just feel like this team is too good to create potential drama within

guys, we're good but we're not THAT good
if we had an opportunity to get bynum while keeping our cores in tact, I'm all for it
we'd be silly to not better our team if we have the opportunity to

as an aside, I do think it would also be beneficial purely to keep miami from obtaining a legitimate big man

I don't see it happening.....but I wouldn't be surprised if every Playoff Bound Team is interested in Bynum.....watch Teams like the Nets, Raptors and the Suns come out next saying that they are interested in him.

    Is he healthy?
Bynum has a lot of talent and size.
To sign him cheap would be a dream.
He is twice the player Ian is.
I'm sure The Legend would let him know real quick that any distractions would see him banned from the field house.

If he is healthy I think we could straighten him out.
There would be no better insurance policy for Roy.

And IMO if he hit South Beach he would neutralize most of our advantage against the Heat...if healthy.

I doubt this ends up happening, but I think you could do worse for your 14th roster spot. Being around David West could do him wonders, and I think if there's any trouble, you cut bait immediately. I'm not handing him the job over Mahinmi, but if he ends up being better, then he's better.

I'd prefer it not happen, but let's not act like players of Bynum's childish mentality and work ethic haven't been key cogs of title teams before. Sometimes it's all about a player's surroundings, as we've seen with Lance...oh wait, and Bynum. The man did help the Lakers win two titles. I can't stand Bynum and doubt he'd be a good fit for the team, but I'm also not going to shy away from a player because of perceived baggage and the fact I can't stand him.

It would all come down to how much he respected our players and coach. From a win-loss perspective, he would certainly have to respect us because we have accomplished a helluva lot over the last couple of years. But would he respect our guys as authority figures over him? In LA, he had a top 10 all time player whipping him into shape, as well as the most successful coach in NBA history. Kobe and Phil Jackson are clearly intimidating figures. I just wonder if he would give anyone on our roster that kind of respect.

The source for the article is a Cavs writer that says that she "thinks" that we are a possibility. She definitely has every reason to think that we are a possibility but this is not a real story. The FO has not said anything and neither has said anyone who has the inside track of our FO.

If we're truly interested, though, then I'd take a wait and see approach. There is no doubt that Bynum has talent. However, there are some doubts about his love of the game. So, I'm kind of on the fense with this one.

I will agree with something what Slick Pinkham said. In Bird we trust.

I'm ok with this. Ian is a decent backup, but Bynum is so much better.
Lance + Starting SG = Awesome

    Now really free Lance!

He's not technically on the roster, but if someone can't respect Larry Bird, he just doesn't belong in the league. I mean - It's Larry Freakin' Bird. If for some reason, Bird decided to give it a go, I'd be behind it 101%.

This reeks of Bynum's camp leaking this out there. We know that he a) wants to play for a contender and b) doesn't want to play for the minimum. It just so happens we are a contender and we could pay him more than the minimum. It makes sense that his agents will leak that information out. "Exploratory interest" to me means something like we did our due diligence. Whether it is actual interest or not it's hard to say, but I rather doubt it.

Bynum might enjoy being Hibbert's backup. With those knees, he's not going to want to be relied upon. But I still think he's going to Miami because he's an A hole.

Edit: I agree someone is leaking information out, trying to scare Miami...trying to maximize Bynum's pay.

    Please please please NO.

Don't care if he goes to Miami. If he comes here (IMO very very unlikely still) I'd welcome him as with all Pacers, but I really really don't want him

You are right. If I was his agent, and I thought I was going to be meeting with Miami, I would definitely bring up Indy as a potential suitor.

    @ESPNSteinLine

Pacers, I'm told, have NOT made a formal offer to Andrew Bynum. But they were among original eight teams to call Bynum's camp this week

Sense is Pacers' interest here is more about keeping Bynum away from Miami than actually bringing Bynum in to test their treasured chemistry
