Reche Caldwell charged with illegal gambling operation

Former NFL receiver Reche Caldwell has been arrested and charged with being a ringleader of an illegal gambling operation.

The Tampa Bay Times reports that Caldwell was among eight men arrested after officers raided a building in Tampa on Sunday afternoon.

Caldwell was charged with running an illegal gambling house and bookmaking. He was released early Monday on $4,000 bail.

A second-round pick of the Chargers in 2002, Caldwell played four years in San Diego, one in New England and one in Washington. He has been out of the league since the Rams cut him at the end of the 2008 preseason.

Former NFL receiver Reche Caldwell arrested again, this time for allegedly selling Ecstasy

Reche Caldwell has gone from an NFL career to a life of crime.

Caldwell was arrested Tuesday in Tampa and accused of selling the drug Ecstasy, according to TBO.com. He was released from jail on Wednesday after posting a $2,000 bond. Caldwell faces one felony charge of possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell, according to jail records.

This is Caldwell’s second arrest in the past five months.

Caldwell, 35, was arrested in January for allegedly running an illegal gambling operation in Tampa with two other men. According to jail records, Caldwell has been arrested four times in Tampa since 2009.

Prior to Caldwell’s criminal problems, he was standout receiver at the University of Florida, and eventually became a second-round pick by the San Diego Chargers in 2002. Caldwell was an underachiever throughout his career, but he had 760 receiving yards and four touchdowns with the Patriots in 2006. He spent the 2007 season with the Washington Redskins before his career ended.

Broncos receiver Andre Caldwell is Reche’s younger brother. Andre Caldwell signed a two-year deal worth up to $3.45 million with the Broncos this offseason. He is expected to move up Denver’s depth chart after Eric Decker’s signing with the New York Jets during free agency.

I still to this day do no understand why gambling is just not legalized in this country. You look here in Indiana it is illegal to have a casino, but you put it on a boat it is some how ok. Probably have to keep it illegal to justify the over militarized police forces.

I can only imagine what his eyes looked like when the police broke down those doors.

I could look at this 1000 times and it would still make me laugh every time.

Former NFL wideout Reche Caldwell arrested yet again

At this point, maybe we should have all seen this coming.

Former NFL wide receiver Reche Caldwell was arrested again in Florida Sunday, his third arrest in 2014.

According to Greg Auman of the Tampa Bay Times, Caldwell was arrested on charges of possession of marijuana and driving with a suspended license.

In May, he was arrested for possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute, following a January arrest for running an illegal gambling operation.

Caldwell spent parts of six seasons in the NFL with the Chargers (who burned a second-round pick on him), Patriots Redskins and Rams.

He caught 152 passes during that time, but at his current rate, he’ll put up even bigger numbers off the field.

French Lick Casino is nowhere near water. Isn't a boat... doesn't look like a boat... doesn't have a captain.... etc... yet is a full fledged casino.

So not even the boat stipulation is what it once was.

pretty sure the French Lick Casino used to be a "boat," they had it surrounded by a little moat or something like that. then they remodeled and petitioned...whoever, and became the first land casino in the state, still the only one far as I know.
