Being 25 I believe means he can no longer be drafted, so maybe the Pacers can sign him to be the Ian replacement.
I don't know who all is serious/not serious here, but there's a lot more to it than "find tall guy who is OK in Euroball". Even most NBA-quality backup centers struggle with fouling, putting opponents on the line, boxout technique, rebounding technique, post offense, post defense...and mostly back to my original point of not being a detriment by giving up free points.

This guy would foul out in 2 minutes.

I've wanted Jarvis Varnado in a Pacers jersey for quite a while now, and I'll stick to it. He's a rebounding, shot blocking machine, whom would flourish under the Pacers' system and Roy's tutelage.

How can a Center like this not be drafted by some Team already?
He entered the 2010 NBA Draft and he had just signed a 3-year contract with CSKA Moscow that summer. I think that this could have scared some teams since he wouldn't come over quickly. Still, I don't see why some team didn't draft him as a stash pick.

Yes, we could. He signed a 2-year contract with Red Star Belgrade this summer but we could buy out his contract if we wanted.

There is definitely more to it than "find a tall guy who is ok in Euroball". But this isn't a guy that struggles with strength in the post as several other European bigs that have a good offensive game but tend to be lanky. This is a guy who has the required strength to defend the post, box out, rebound and block spots. His biggest drawback is that he is extremely slow and thus can be picked apart in the PnR. But several back-up bigs struggle with it as well.

Yeah, Varnado would be a good pick-up. He is a bit undersized for a C but his length and athleticism can make up for it.

I'm being serious in the sense that if he is actually good enough that it should be considered, but I have no idea if he is actually good enough.

At some point, I expect the Pacers to pick up another big, but he would be a 'break glass in case of emergency' type. No playing time absent either a blow out or 4 of the 5 big we have now fouling out.
    Is John Edwards available?

“People talk about how quiet he [McKey] is, but he’s really been helpful. He gives a lot of insight to players in how to guard certain teams and what their weaknesses are. The whole team listens to him, and it makes my job a lot easier. Having players like him is what pro basketball is all about for me.” —Larry Brown

You know, this is a little off topic, but I saw this and was pretty surprised he's not on a roster.

I know we're wing heavy, but I always thought Shannon Brown was pretty good.

Then that got me looking at free agents...I'd actually be pretty happy picking up Marcus Camby.

He was with the Knicks last season and he didn't play even when they were desperate for a Center. Chances are that he is not healthy enough to play. He is saying that he is healthy, though.

I'd love to see the Pacers pick up Jason Collins.
