Didn't see this coming but it makes tons of sense on the outside looking in-
Sarah Fischer, Wink Hartman, and Ed Carpenter are combining their teams into one. It will be CFH Racing. It'll be especially meaningful IMO if Carpenter continues to split his ride with a quality road course driver PLUS CFH can retain Newgarden full-time.

Nuntius was right. I was wrong. Frank Vogel has retained his job.

Gotta think Power locked up the championship with that dominating effort yesterday. It's incredible how far he's come on ovals.

Power will be the first to say it aint over, especially with Fontana counting for double points. Now if he goes in to Fontana with an over 100 point lead...

As long as Ed makes most of the calls, yeah it makes a lot of sense. SFHR has been a total disaster this year. Newgarden is a really good young, American driver, but he's been totally handicapped by his team. It's almost sad. It makes perfect sense for Ed to want to bring Josef into the fold, but Ed and his team need to be making the racing decisions.

Mikhail Aleshin has apparently suffered a serious injury at Fontana. Pictures look like he took out some fence in a wreck with Kimball. Kimball is out of the car and okay.

    Curt Cavin ‏@curtcavin 8m

Replay: Aleshin spun after getting below white line, spun into Kimball's path, massive crash, Aleshin vaults into the fence. HUGE

FONTANA, CA – IndyCar drivers and fans got a scare on Friday night when driver Mikhail Aleshin was involved in a major crash at the Auto Club Speedway.

But luckily the driver appears to be OK despite damaging the catch fence in Turn 4 of the Auto Club Speedway in Fontana towards the end of the practice for the series’ final race of the year.

Late Friday night IndyCar tweeted that Aleshin was awake and alert and was on his way to a local hospital complaining of pain in his right shoulder and right foot.

A replay of the incident shows that Aleshin spun out and went up turn four and into the car of Charlie Kimball. Once he hit, Aleshin’s car went spinning in the air across the fence and then to a rest.

Aleshin is a rookie in the series and back in May became the first Russian to race in the Indianapolis 500.

The full extent of injuries suffered by Verizon IndyCar Series driver Mikhail Aleshin was made public early Saturday morning. According to IndyCar, Aleshin has been "diagnosed with fractured ribs, a broken right clavicle, a concussion and chest injuries."
The 27-year-old Russian driver was involved in a frightening crash during night practice on Friday at Auto Club Speedway, and was transported to Loma Linda University Medical Center for a full evaluation. Aleshin is expected to remain at the Southern California hospital until he is able to travel.
Aleshin's crash happened in the short evening practice session that followed Friday's qualifying for Saturday night's season finale. The Schimidt Peterson driver spun at high speed and tangled with Ganassi's Charlie Kimball, sending Aleshin's car into the catch fencing. Marco Andretti then hit wreckage from the incident.
Kimball was checked at the Fontana track's medical centre and cleared to drive in Saturday night's race. His Ganassi team is preparing a spare chassis for him to race.

Congrats to Will Power on finally securing the Indycar championship. Condolences to Helio on being the bridesmaid yet again. Congrats to TK for finally get a victory this season after seeing a couple slip away.

See ya later Beau Barfield. Not sure how I feel about this one. Barfield has resigned. He apparently didn't like the committee approach Indycar went with in race control. I hope, hope, hope TGBB doesn't return as the head of race control.... but ol' 9 Lives wouldn't surprise me in the least. I'm not sure how this guy can possibly still be around, let alone in a position to reclaim this job.
