So it's cool for the BAMF to miss wide open layups in game 7 of the ECF? Or let Shane Battier shut him down in the 2nd round of the playoffs 2 seasons ago?
To be fair on the second point, a big man is only as good as his ability to receive a clean entry pass. The whole team struggled making low post feeds in the playoffs two seasons ago.

Onto the positive: The last time PG had a bad game (his scoreless game last season), he went on to be an offensive and defensive beast. I think this game out of all the games this season will be the true turning point for PG when it comes to effort, will, motivation and overall efficiency in games. I'm looking forward for his next game and how he will response after his (probably and should be the only) worst game of the season.

LG33 is being the ribs that flip over Fred Flintstone's car and he's tearing this place apart.

I know. I never said that it was from tonight's game thread. It was from the Nets game thread back in December 23. He asked me to find someone saying something negative about Danny in that game (in which he obviously played bad offensively) and I did that. I never implied that this was from tonight's game thread. Sorry if you got the wrong impression
He was chucking in that Nets game. I criticized him as I would criticize any player for poor play. How is that proof of anything in this case?

Sure would be nice to have a point guard who can get players shots when a team turns it up on defense...

No PG in this league can do that when his teammates are standing still and just genuinely taking stupid shots and making lazy passes

Wish Simon would allow us to go over the cap. That expiring of Danny's would be awfully valuable as a trade asset to upgrade the team...

Schedule loss against a team on the rise. Disappointing, but not a huge deal. It happens.

Danny was one of the best Pacers out there last night.

Had to work so I missed the game. Checked the final score on my phone and of course I was surprised and saddend.
BTW The place I immediately wanted to see to understand this misfortune was the PD post game thread.
    Rock on.

IF...I had remembered that yesterday was NYE, and our gaggle of mostly tweenagers were like...
    Out of the Country!
... I believe I would have readjusted my expectations.

We had the double Whammy of the back to back
that sapped the strength of the elder contingent:

i.e. those who knew better than to not chase it 'til dawn.

I guess I could get all indignant, and try to hold it against the youngsters.
But I just ain't feelin' that.

    When I was twenty-three
    and not on the clock!

Ya'll could just go ahead and
    kiss my go to he**!

I was gonna shake it a bit on NYE.

    So there's that.

And after reading the thread, that's what it's sounding like.
If you don't like it, insist that we field exclusively, a team of old goats.

I was very impressed with the Raptors defense. One of the best defenses we have faced all season.

I did not think was spectacular, we missed a ton of open shots. But i will give them credit because they did do one thing really well and that was pressure the heck out of the ball early in the shot clock. It looked like they keyed in on PG and Hill every time they caught the ball.

I think you'd better watch out - someone will disagree and try to prove that Danny actually sucked worse than anyone else on the floor, it was just that he was secretly sucking so that only Real Basketball Fans could see it.

On a serious note, I hate losing but an occasional loss is important because it teaches us something about the team. We already know we rely too much on the jump shot, and it is no coincidence that Danny did as well as he did by driving into the lane instead of solely settling for jumpers. Losing Roy to foul trouble didn't help either.

In this game, we see that once players get frustrated they play more carelessly in a (misguided) effort to speed the game up and try to get daggers to change the momentum back in their direction. Ridiculous pass attempts, spin moves that end up losing the ball, attempted dagger three-pointers that go *clang*, all of them are symptoms.

When things stop going their way on defense they start to lose focus even more as well. There was a point where I felt like they just threw up their hands and gave up doing the fundamental defensive moves because Toronto was hitting very difficult shots. That's no excuse to give easy ones away as well.

Lance's one-handed play, which has bothered me for a number of games now, finally became an active detriment because the referees have started watching his off hand. This could be HUGE if it doesn't get corrected.

And, of course, the assumption we could kind of warm up slowly in the first half and then floor the accelerator in the 3rd quarter proved incorrect when Toronto was able to keep up and the Pacers never managed to get that over-the-top lead.

One final thing to remember is that teams will simply not play tired against the Pacers any more. WE are one of THE teams that cause opponents to get that shot of adrenaline. Back-to-back doesn't matter because we're the target and teams get pumped to play us. That's one reason why "bad" teams can win these games - they only have to be critically focused on us 2-4 times a year, while we have to somehow be critically focused on every team every night. As much as we'd like that to happen, it just isn't humanly possible. The best we can hope is that if one guy's mind is wandering other people step up, and last night was not the case.

I'd also like to add that Kyle Lowry is one heck of player. I don't understand why he has had such and up and down experience there in Toronto. He was great in Houston.

Yep I think they partied hard last night, I don't blame them though Toronto is known for having good parties.
Some of my most memorable (read: forgettable) evenings have been in Toronto. Lots of distractions there for sure.

Oh, and I really don't think this was because the guys were partying until dawn. That's a cheap excuse and unfair to them as professionals. Were they distracted by not being ABLE to go out on NYE with their friends and family? Perhaps, but that's just one of the many distractions causing a lack of focus and probably the least of them in this case.

Basketball is a game of matchups, regardless of record. I think Toronto is a team that matches up with us pretty well.

Is there any actual evidence from a reliable source that anyone on this team went out on NYE, or is this just baseless speculation? Because it sounds like the latter.
