    Question 60+ win teams

There are currently five teams on pace to win 60 or more games this season. Has this ever happened before?

3 teams won 60+ in 2008-2009 and I think that this is the most:

    (sort by year)

though the list only goes down to 62-20

Orlando missed by one game of being the 4th that year

Yea, I've been thinking the number of teams killing it this year is abnormally high. I mean, the Pacers were 20-4, lost 2, and dropped 4 spots. Most years, 20-6 would still be league-leading.

Portland is above us, but only because they've been the benefactor of a lot of game-winning shots lately. I gotta think they'll see some drop eventually. Lilliard had 3 game winners in a week. I mean, come on.
There are two types of quarterbacks in the league: Those whom over time, the league figures out ... and those who figure out the league.

In 97-98 there were 4 with 60 or more wins and the Pacers were two wins away from making it 5.

To me the stranger occurrence was 1997 when ten teams finished with at least 54 wins.

Charlotte went 54-28 that year and was rewarded with the #6 seed in the east...

It wasn't about being the team everyone loved, it was about beating the teams everyone else loved.

    Division Champions 1955, 1956, 1988, 1989, 1990, 2002, 2003, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008
    Conference Champions 1955, 1956, 1988, 2005
    NBA Champions 1989, 1990, 2004
