Ok so I'm looking at Brooklyn's roster and here are the have some pieces that teams can use, Reggie Evans is cheap and easy to trade, Pierce is expiring and is still good I wouldn't mind the Pacers trading for him , Dwill? maybe some team wants to take a chance on him? Lopez? meh, KG? no, Blatche has value teams that need a big that is playing for the minimum can use him, AK47? maybe?, Livingston is tradeable, JJ? hell no.

Pierce has value, but KG is done. There is no way they are getting a pick back.

Huh? That's robbery on our part. Why would that make me mad? It's virtually zero risk for us. In fact, we actually create more cap space.

I'd love Pierce in the pistons. He's exactly what we need off the bench. But he'd never agree to it and there's no point in Brooklyn moving him for nothing when he's their only expiring deal.

It wasn't about being the team everyone loved, it was about beating the teams everyone else loved.

They'll get atlanta's pick, not Brooklyn's. Still a fine deal for them.

And the right to swap first rounders in 2017, which could be a wretched pick given the way Brooklyn's future is shaping up to look.

Pierce to Phoenix would be interesting, for Okafor and a first round pick, and a 2nd or something. I think Pierce has some good value to contending teams w/ an expiring. The only negative would be that then KG would probably retire almost immediately, though they're stuck with those years anyway.

I thought you would hate losing Datome.

My biggest fear as a Pacer fan is an average young team getting Pierce and making them a headache in the playoffs.

Brooklyn should sell their junk to NY, Amare 2 years for Dwill 4, JJ 3 years for Barg 2 years and Felton? that could reduce rebuilding by one year.

And NY could have a team with Dwill,JJ,Shumperts,Melo and Chandler.

Yeah don't they wish they had like Blazers/Pacers instead? Not that many people knew Portland was going to be a great team.

That team still sucks lol, or is 1st/2nd round fodder.

In two years Brooklyn only has 3 players on the books...and they'll still likely be over the salary cap at $62.7 million.

Not only are they screwed this year, but next year and the year after that as well

Maybe Houston finds a trade partner in Brooklyn for Asik? it took Lopez about year to recover last time he had the foot injury right?

To be fair, both Brooklyn and Chicago were projected to be good before the season started. The only issue as far as teams is that the Pacers should be on instead of the Lakers, and the Heat should have played the Spurs. You always should have a Finals rematch on Christmas as long as both teams appear to be solid teams, IMO.

Blatche isn't a bad replacement I guess. Sucks for Lopez's career though.

Ouch. Not good. Guy's got talent, but when you're a 7 footer and you keep injuring your feet...that does not a long career make.

Brooklyn is such a bad team. Really embarrassing from top to bottom.

Roy's ability to stay healthy is an underrated aspect of his NBA value.

Wrote this 3 years ago on PD in reference to Yao Ming:

Dunno why exactly, but a bad foot problem for a big in the NBA... bad as blowing out a knee. Big Z was a monster in the making before his career was derailed into mediocrity. And any longtime Pacers fan is a bit wistful about what a healthy Rik coulda been...

Hell, I don't even know how many fans remember Big Z, much less how much promise he had. Smits could have been in his prime for 8 years instead of 4. Of course, Bill Walton is the poster boy for bigs who lost a career due to foot problems.

If I were a GM, I'd have a real hard time investing in a big after a bad foot problem. It's almost like concussions, where the injury just snowballs....

    That's a great point.

    Roy's games played per season:

70 (some of those missed games were probably coach's decision)
    81
    81
    65 (66 game season)
    79
26 out of 26 so far this year.

Pretty remarkable. He's missed 18 games in his entire career, which is just incredible for a starting center. He has been one super durable dude.

My God. Go here, http://www1.realgm.com/nba/draft/future_drafts/detailed and look at the picks the Nets owe. Lopez is obviously damaged goods, he may never have much value again. Then you look at all those picks they owe.

Like I've said many times lately, it's just amazing how little the two New York teams value draft picks. These two franchises act as if using first round draft picks would give the entire team leprosy or something.

I like building the Larry Bird way. He understands that having first round draft picks is actually a nice asset for the franchise. It's one thing when you're in the Pacers' current position and trade the following year's first rounder for a player like Luis Scola because we knew for sure that would be a pick at at the very end of the first round. But you're playing with fire when you start to throwaway draft picks years down the road for AARP players like Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce. I would have liked to have seen Truth finish his career in Boston, but Ainge completely fleeced Brooklyn. He traded Pierce and Garnett at the perfect time. They still had big value last summer, but he knew they were at that point where their games were going to start declining at any minute. Ainge made a great business decision and I'd feel pretty good if I were a Celtics fan right now.

Also, trading a 2016 first rounder for freaking Bargnani. WTF? That's such a Knicks thing to do. So idiotic. There must be something in the NY water that makes NBA franchises there treat using draft picks as if they are some sort of rare disease.
