Default Kobe Bryant Out 6 Weeks (Knee)

Lateral Tibial Plateau Fracture, its breaking news on Sportscenter, don't see it online yet. Big injuries are hard to come back from, why I can't expect much from Granger.

Lots of mileage on those old Kobe bones and ligaments. Sad.

I fear that we have seen the last of Mamba's days as a dominant player. He was an immortal NBA legend for a long time, but he is still a 35 year old guy with a ton of miles on him who suffered one of the worst injuries an athlete can go through.

Not to beat them when they're down, but this is why it was foolish for the Lakers to sign him to that extension before he even played a game this season. They should have waited until the season was over and then given him a fair market value based on his production. I understand that you want to take care of the franchise, but it's business and sometimes you have to play hardball. That's what the Yankees did with Derek Jeter a few years ago. They weren't going to laughably overpay him just because of his name. Now ridiculously overpaying for Jacoby Ellsbury? That's another matter.....

Well he's got to be happy he signed that contract extension, just imagine if he had waited until the end of the season, Lakers would probably go in a separate direction. I'd trade them Sloan for a 1st round pick lol, they really have no point guards or even anyone who can attempt to anymore.

Unless you're Russell Westbrook and a freak of nature.

His injury was way more serious than 0's. Not that Westbrook's was child's play, but it certainly wasn't a torn ACL.

Kobe and/or the Lakers pushed way to hard. Kobe had a year off type injury and came back to soon IMO, plus they played him around 29 minutes to start with and then increased it.

Bring Danny along slowly off the bench. He has months to work back into top shape.

Not a whole lot to do with age. I've seen 22y/os re-tear their knee trying to come back too early.

That's a shame, Kobe was even starting to get in a bit of a groove.

He's just getting old. Hoping he recovers well, and stays healthy so that he can retire the right way.

eh, i am not gonna cry about it. the dude has crazy, crazy money to go along with a hall of fame career and 5 championships.
he has had an exceptionally blessed life. many worse things have happened to better people.
he is more than just a 35 year old player, he is an extremely high-mileage 35 year old player and i think his body is finally breaking down from all the strain of playing in the league for half of his life .
he has had his time in the sun. he can still be a capable player but, his days as a nearly unstoppable destroyer of other teams is over.

I don't know I think he can still be an effective player if they surround him with younger players ala Tim Duncan and get a better coach than D'Antoni. Of course given the current regime of the Lakers you're right the end is coming a lot sooner than he thinks

If there's a season to "check out" this is a good one for Kobe. The Lakers aren't going anywhere anyways.

This also explains why Pau is no longer on the trade block

It's sad that he's worked so hard to come back and I don't want to see him go out this way. However, I still hate the Lakers and the way they've been able to rob talent from other teams and outspend the Pacers since forever. It won't bother me at all to see the Lakers in Cap hell while paying Kobe his 48 mil over for the remainder of this season and the next 2 while they give away the first round picks that they used to sign Nash. Having said that I still hope Kobe has it in him to make another return.
