Putting aside anything that happened in this game, I absolutely cannot stand Joey Crawford. I don't want him to have a job anymore. I don't want to see his face anymore. He is, without question, the worst thing about the NBA.

Why is Frank calling such a complicated play when we only need a 2 to win? why give the ball to George Hill knowing that Hill was sucking? so many questions because I'm mad
Nothing complicated about the play. Probably every team in the league runs a version of that exact play. The Spurs probably run it more than any other team, multiple times a game. Pacers execution wasn't good enough that was the problem

I think you guys are being a little too critical of the team.

Mahinmi delivered a pretty respectful performance given the tough circumstances.

Lance, PG, and West were straight up awesome pretty much the entire game.

Most of the breakdown of the game rooted back to the early Hibbert foul trouble. No one here can legitimately blame the most critical of his fouls to his "poor play". I actually think the fault lied at Vogel's feet for leaving him in the game following that circumstance.

The game balance changed with a couple of Scola mistakes, IMO... that allowed Miami to build some momentum.

It seems like not many of you watch the Heat play. They're a damn good team!

It's a fine play, but the Heat were clearly ready for it. I would have loved to have seen us go to Roy and put him in a position where he could either take someone one on one or pass it out of a double team. Wouldn't have minded going to West either.

Yeah I don't get it is like Vogel wanted to over do it, I mean I understand a play like that if you need a 3 with 2 seconds left but they had 25 freaking seconds left why call that garbage? just give it to West,Hibbert,Paul George or even Lance.
I agree, down by 1 and they go with a GHill Drive to basket and jump out of bounds to swing the ball? Stupid play calling, should have run the play through David West, let him back Birdman down and draw the double team or go right into the lane and get the AND1. That possession is completely on Vogel.

I have a serious love/hate opinion of that guy. But at best the bad/good counter balance each other, leaving you with a flamboyant example of mediocrity.

You could see it happening midway through the 4th quarter. Sure the Pacers still had the lead, but The Heat were getting easier shots while the Pacers were slowly walking the ball up, slowly getting into their offense and slowly moving the ball and holding the ball, fighting the shot clock, and then having to throw up hero shots. They hit a few, which allowed the Pacers to keep a 6 point lead for the most part. But I knew that could not least, as the Heat were getting easier shots and kept getting easier shots. And then they got a couple of run-outs and pulled the game out.

Overall though I could watch these two teams play every night. It is a great , great matchup to watch. Contrasting styles. It is so fun to watch.
I agree with this the most, it was a fantastic game overall, and look at all the SC coverage they're getting after the game even, it's quite amazing. There can be no more complaining about no Pacer love in the media. I got a feeling that April 11th game that's not on any sort of national TV coverage will get something besides NBATV as long as both teams are dominating.
"It's just unfortunate that we've been penalized so much this year and nothing has happened to the Pistons, the Palace or the city of Detroit," he said. "It's almost like it's always our fault. The league knows it. They should be ashamed of themselves to let the security be as lax as it is around here."

Its a terrible play to run when you have to get a basket. Too much risk involved. Jumping out of bounds to make the pass. TJ Ford doesn't run this team anymore.

Its not all about the team I am mad about, it's the OTHER team. I would rather lose to ANY team on ANY court in ANT situation than to even lose a preseason game against the heat. I can't stand their brand of basketball, their constant whining, sense of entitlement.

I am less angry watching the colts lose to the pats than the Pacers to the Heat

I'm comfortable with Hill and West executing a pick and pop, but if Hill's going to be asked to dribble out there and then drive into traffic to look for a kick-out... I just don't have a lot of faith in him in that instance. Against Miami in general, he looks like a poor ballhandler and a poor passer, and it kinda makes me ill. I like the guy, but I wish I liked him more than I do.

Yes. They are the defending champions and have beat us two straight seasons. They have the best player in the world, and if D-Wade keeps playing like he has lately (certainly no guarantees), then they still have the best two players in a series against us. PG is better than D-Wade from a physical ability standpoint, but D-Wade gets the edge over him if he keeps playing like this because of the mental toughness and experience.

I just don't see how you can say you don't see them beating us in a series when they have knocked us out two straight years. To eliminate a team with Lebron James, almost everything is going to have to go perfect. First and foremost, we must get HCA. Secondly, this team must have a reliable wing off of the bench who can take a bit of the pressure off of PG and contribute some scoring in key playoff situations. Those of us who were saying that the bench isn't good enough aren't a bunch of spoiled whiners who lack appreciation for what we've watched. It's quite the opposite actually. We love this team and understand its potential. But we want to maximize its chances, because to beat Miami in May, we're going to have to be near perfect. If Granger can comeback and prove that he can consistently be relied upon off the bench, then problem solved. If not, then we need to look at making a move. Our opportunity is too great to leave any stone unturned.

Miami is just so mentally tough and is able to kick it into an extra gear, particularly in South Beach. Gonna be hard to beat them 4 times.
Very interesting take. As much as the media tries to make basketball an individual game, it is not. It is a team game. LeBron is by FAR the best player in the league. And Wade is a very good player (though I think you are overrating him). But the pieces have to fit. And if you watched this game and thought Miami was the better team at the end of it then I have to say that you are probably just thinking more about the past few years and putting it in with this game. Just take this game and the game here in Indy and don't think about last year at all. Do you still say we are the inferior team?

Think about this, Roy played 23 minutes. We took Miami to 7 games last year. No one on Miami seemed to improve a lot. PG, Roy, Lance all have improved dramatically. Not to mention we have replaced Psycho with Scola, and Augustin with Watson (though Watson did not look like much of an upgrade today). AND Granger may be coming for the playoff series. We had SAM YOUNG last year. To me it is a NEW year, I do not take last year into consideration right now at all because the Pacers quite honestly are a much better team. And Miami, well they took a step down IF anything.

I call it complicated because George Hill is the one that is running the play, I'm a George Hill fan but those kind of plays are not his thing you could see the TO coming from miles away.

I didn't think we'd win this game but how we lost is just.. bad.

We have Houston on Friday this could be a 3 game losing streak right here.

However I agree its the LeBron Rules now.. argh there's a reason why I can't get my hopes up too high with this team.

I concur that the ignore list is a useful tool. Tonight was the very first time I used in a decade on PD. I tend to want to hear all opinions, but there is even a limit for me. It may not be the last time I use it, but it will be used sparingly.

As for this game, I consider it part of the path to a championship. Us old timers watched the Pacers get over the hump with the Knicks. It will happen with the Heat whether or not LeWade stay together there. Really, the east is ripe and we are about to dethrone this team and nobody in the east is going to stop us from advancing to the finals in the next few years. The only thing that will stop us is a key injury or two. JMHO.

I love that he has the gall to call fouls on superstars.
I hate that he is so busy making a spectacle of himself that he misses calls constantly.

I suppose it's not "poor" when your starting center scores 6 with 2 boards in 22 mins. Two of the fouls were the complete opposite of the vaunted, "verticality", "rim protector", "DPOY". Swinging his arms down when all he had to do was maintain position. Reminded me of a 2nd year Smits. While I was screaming to get him out with 4, Bosch held the ball for 5 secs before he slowly moved into the lane to draw his 5th. And Roy gave it to him. Gave it to him.

    Dumb

There were just so many mistakes in this game. There were probably a handful or maybe even two handfuls of WTF calls by the refs, but quite honestly those shouldn't have been nearly enough to make the difference for us; this was our win if we do even a slightly better job of focusing and executing.

To be perfectly honest, despite a sucky finish, I still feel like this is our year to win a series against Miami. They seem pretty vulnerable to this team, IMO.

Well the play doesn't call for the player to jump out of bounds. I am talking about the play call which IMO is a good call, the execution of the play and the good defense by Lebron was the problem. It is a good play call, I have zero problems with it

I'm with ya. I hate losing as much as anyone but I saw a lot to like in this game. We had a couple games earlier in the season where we pulled out close ones, it's gonna even out over a season.

To be honest, when I realized he wasn't giving up the ball I kinda expected the worst. He's just not the guy to be asking to dribble/drive against Miami.

I don't think Roy was ready to be a primary option on offense late. He was looking stiff from sitting so long. West and PG were the correct late game options

The Pacers really need to work on their passing and the tendency to dribble and get careless with the ball. They were taking A LOT of tough shots tonight and making a lot of them. But better passing is a better way to win the game. It seemed as though they got a little complacent and never got into kill mode.
