I haven't seen all the games this year, but has GHill even had one really good game? The ones I've seen range from "meh" to "blech"

I wonder how many people in Detroit even watched the Pistons get this huge win? The Lions are playing a huge MNF game tonight.
Precisely zero. None of my ******* friends have texted me to gloat yet.

You forgot to mention that our two losses with the exception of tonight came against the best 2 records other than ourselves on the Road. Also forgot to mention that 2 of those 4 wins, 3 of those 5 if you count L.A., have come against the Clippers, Spurs, and Heat.

5-3 after the 15-1 start with 5 of those 8 games being against the top 6 teams in the league.

I haven't liked their body language on the court for the last few games. they just look disinterested compared to earlier in the season. can't quite put a finger on it.
Yes, I agree. Especially in the first 12-14 minutes.
AND I don't feel like the overall defensive effort has been there.
In the last 8 games, the Pacers have allowed
    100
    106
    86
    100
    118
    84
    94
    101
    ave of 98.6 per game.
I think the other teams have figured out our defense. Drive, lure Roy toward the ball, hit the weak side cutter.

For real though, they have came out a wee bit cocky the past few games methinks. Like they think they can just sleepwalk through lesser teams. You guys have a target on your backs, Pacers. Prepare accordingly.

I just can't help but shake my head at the fact that GHill can NEVER stay in front of his guy. It's embarrassing.

If he isn't going to play defense, he needs to at least be aggressive offensively. We can't continue to have him disappear on both sides of the ball.

I've wanted to trade him for a real PG for a while now. This game wasn't his fault though. It was a team effort. He just stood out to me, AGAIN, which is a bad thing.

I hated to see Scola come out at all in the 4th. He was beasting, and David was not.

But HOW do we get KILLED on the boards like that? 55-40? yikes
How? Easy....the Pistons are the top Offensive rebounding Team in the league. Add in a frontline of Drummond, Monroe, JSmoove and Josh frickin Harrellson and Hibbert, West and Scola were clearly outmatched and outhustled.

I'm not sure if I agree with trading him, but I'm glad I'm not the only one who sees he struggles to stay in front of his man. I'm not sure where his elite defensive reputation came from.

Yea...one of the supposedly best starting 5's in the league sure seems like theyve been digging alot of 1st quarter holes recently...holes that the team spends the rest of the game trying to dig out of

I know that many here think that the Pistons aren't as good of a team....just because they are a sub-500 Team...but they have beat the Heat and Pacers on the Road...they ( just like the Pacers but blowing a huge lead ) took the Blazers to an OT loss.

When Jennings, JSmoove and the rest of the perimeter guys are hitting their shots....and the rest of the Frontcourt is controlling the boards and paint...the Pistons are a good Team. They just needed to build some chemistry and they will be much better.

That's pretty much the story of the season so far, right? Do only "okay" in the 1st half.....or 2nd QTr....then rely on a strong 3rd QTR or 2nd Half to pull us out of the mud? Yeah...I hate that too.

I didn't get to watch the game because it was blacked out in the Detroit media market on League Pass, which I have the extremely unfortunate pleasure to live in. Why would they do that if the game was in Indianapolis? I get blacked out of every Pistons and Cavaliers game. It's horseshit.

I agree that Vogel shouldn't take out Scola.
I can't agree with that. It sounds like a good idea, but you really screw up the chemistry and with the starters heads if all of the sudden they are not finishing the games any more.

Frank kept Scola in longer than usual. So there's that. The way it is supposed to work is that Scola provides a big lift, and West comes back in and plays well also. That's happened most of the year. Didn't happen this game. Can't always happen. But to mess with guys' heads creates more problems, imo.

The Pacers got smashmouthed (just ask Roy) in stead of being the ones doing the smashmouthing...seems recently theyve almost gone a bit soft....the defense has taken a decided downturn and theyre just a bit too relaxed on the offensive end for my tastes...theres almost a sense of entitlement versus that hunger that seemed to be present so much at the beginning of the season..

Why I said in a previous thread that I would not look forward to playing Detroit in the playoffs, I think they'll be in the top 4 by the end of the year. I hope they play Miami in round 2 and give them hell, a matchup vs the Pacers would be more of a dogfight than I would like.
"It's just unfortunate that we've been penalized so much this year and nothing has happened to the Pistons, the Palace or the city of Detroit," he said. "It's almost like it's always our fault. The league knows it. They should be ashamed of themselves to let the security be as lax as it is around here."

It all starts with the best player. Paul George has shot an abysmal 6-26 (23%) from the field in the last two games. The Kobe-ish jumpers that had been falling all season aren't going down for him right now. There have been a lot of ugly left/right misses.

We've had a top 5 player in the league all season, but we haven't had him for the last two games. I'll cut him some slack for the Heat game because Lebron and Co. played absolutely suffocating first half defense against him and he rebounded with a decent second half, but he has been atrocious in last two games against Charlotte and Detroit.

It's just maddening how Hibbert misses bunnies. Absolutely maddening. He is able to get decent and often great position, but he blows shots that should be bunnies. I'm not going to fuss too much about it because our entire defensive identity starts with him guarding the interior, but he didn't do that good tonight in that area either. Awful rebounding too.

When Lance gets the ball, good things happen. He is fearless, knows how to drive, knows how to shoot, knows how to rebound, and knows how to set teammates up. I could watch him hit Scola up for open J's all day. Glad to see another great game from Scola. This game would have been a blowout if it weren't for those two guys.

I'm not going to overreact too much. Detroit isn't too bad and we know that teams are gunning for us. Paul George will breakout of this miserable shooting slump sooner or later and everything will start falling into place again.

I actually think they are in the top 4 right now. We should be more concerned that they just cut our Central Division lead down to 9 games.

Detroit pisses me off. Seriously, what if they had gotten creative and lured Brad Stevens away instead of the proven fail that is Mo Cheeks? That team would be DAMN good.
