Question Knicks and Raptors talking Lowry swap....

    http://basketball.realgm.com/wiretap...le-Lowry-Trade

^Shumpert would most likely go to Toronto. Along with a pick I guess? Perhaps Chris Smith too?

That's a good trade for both teams although I'm not sure if Lowry is on the downside of his career or not but he's been unimpressive the past couple of years.

Larry is not coming back, he didn't have a meeting with Orlando for not reason, yeah he is coming back to the NBA but not to the Pacers, the notion that he is a taking a year off and then come back is absurd.

LOL at Felton. He joined the Knicks the first time after leaving Charlotte...did somewhat good as the Knicks Starting PG....then bolted to Portland cuz the Knicks were looking for another Starting PG.....then returned to the Knicks as their Starting PG....and now....the Knicks are ( again ) looking for another Starting Quality PG to trade for.

In regards to the pick...is the Knicks sending YET another draft pick to the Raptors? How many Draft picks does the Knicks have? Is this for some future 1st round pick in the year 3000?

I'm guessing that they are tanking for Wiggins....but who the heck is going to run the point in Toronto between now and then?

They just traded for Vasquez, so they still have a PG.

Would be a nice deal for the Knicks as long as they don't give up draft picks. Shump and Felton for Lowry

Just because they are Canadian, it doesn't mean that the Raptors want Draft PUCKS

Lowry is injury prone but he is IMO a pretty big upgrade over Felton in terms of running a team, defending, and pushing tempo when needed.
The poster "pacertom" since this forum began (and before!). I changed my name here to "Slick Pinkham" in honor of the imaginary player That Bobby "Slick" Leonard picked late in the 1971 ABA draft (true story!)

Lowry's a talent upgrade, but I wonder about his personality.

What about Felton's? The dude is out of shape damn near every year. He always has a bad year followed by a good one. I wouldn't want him on my team.

Lowry has been fantastic the past few games. Lowry is the type of guy who gets fiery, I can live with his antics. Now Felton I can't stand. I don't think he cares about winging enough.

I like Lowry, but not sure he has more value than Shump. And then the Knicks possibly giving up a pick in the process? What?!
Lance + Starting SG = Awesome

    Now really free Lance!

Toronto might have a better chance trying to get those kind of guys from the Lakers. They really need a PG.

JMO, but it looks like something is wrong with Shumpert. Something that everyone in the Association knows about, but none of us watching the games can see. But all the posts I read here and there talk about how valuable Shumpert is and all the trade offers say different. Wonder if the combination of lost athleticism from his knee has magnified his other offensive issues?

Because he is a much better player. I wouldn't give up a pick, but he is better than Shumpert easily IMO. Shumpert is so overrated on message boards it is laughable. Watch him play he isn't a very good basketball player very undisciplined and is terrible offensively.

IF I was the Raps GM. I would hold out, for Tim Hardaway Jr. and a 1st rd pick. We are almost to the date that rookies and newly signed FA's can be traded. I like Hardaway much more than Shump.

I was talking about this with one of the NY NBA writers in twitter and I told him that not only Shumpert is way overrated but I also don't understand how a guy with so many knee injuries can have so much value.

Give me Chicago Butler over Shumpert any day, give me GS Barnes over Shumpert any time, by the way I wonder why teams are not offering Golden State the moon for Barnes? I'll be all over that guy if I was a team he is nice.

Maybe a very steep price....but when it comes to trading within your division and the other Team appears to be desperate to make a trade....I'd be asking for the moon as well. Plus...it's the Knicks and Dolan....screw them.

I'm guessing that he was thinking that the asking price is too much.....not really too much to be confused by.

    According to this:

    http://basketball.realgm.com/wiretap...For-Kyle-Lowry

The New York Knicks were prepared to trade Raymond Felton, Metta World Peace, plus either Iman Shumpert, Tim Hardaway Jr. or a 2018 first round pick to the Toronto Raptors for Kyle Lowry, but owner James Dolan has vetoed the deal.

The Raptors preferred a first round pick from the Knicks.

Dolan had previously dealt with Raptors' GM Masai Ujiri on the 2011 deal for Carmelo Anthony when he was with the Denver Nuggets.

“Dolan didn’t want to get fleeced again by Masai,” said a source. “They had a deal ready.”

The Knicks had decided to move forward with the deal on Wednesday evening, but Dolan had second thoughts on Thursday.

“There are two problems,” the source said. “Dolan didn’t like that someone from his group leaked it to the media, and the other problem is the Knicks seem to have too many (people) involved with making decisions.”
From what I can tell, the Knicks are asking the Raptors to take on enough 2014-2015 Salary ( about $5 to 6 mil in Salary ) by taking on MWP, Felton and Shumpert/Hardaway Jr. To me...while sending the best Player in the deal.......while taking on additional salary...seems reasonable for the Raptors to ask for a lot in return.

Yeah, this. Lowry can really play. None of the other really can. They are either over the hill, out of shape or young and unproven.
