Thread: So um....

  1. #1

    Exclamation So um....

...I am glad we got David West years ago instead of Nene. Nene is hurt it seems every other day now over with the Wizards. If we had signed Nene, it'd truly be dead weight. West has been healthy as a horse ever since returning from his surgery. Minus those playoff games last post season where he played with the flu or something? But wow....dodged a bullet there!

I did too. I believe Larry wanted both Nene and West.

I wanted Nene, and from what I remember so did Bird, just no one wanted Nene for the price he got which is why we got West instead. Thank you Nene for asking for too much money.

I wanted Dwest. He has always been one of my favorite NBA players. I just never thought he would actually sign here, and at 2 years 20 million I was shocked.

I miss on most of these personnel decisions (would have taken Oden over Durant, Beasley over Rose) but I thought this one was easy. Nene never really showed me anything to think he deserved a large contract. And on that note, I predict whoever signs Faried to his next contract is going to regret it almost immediately.

I did too. But I was very glad we refused to match the contract he ended up getting. That was obviously bad from Day 1.

There were a couple people on here arguing he was worth it... who was it?

If this question is to set up mocking other posters... let's not please

Welcome to Pacers Digest! New around here? Here are three tips for making the forum a great place to talk about Pacers basketball.

    • Log in. Even if you want to read instead of post, it's helpful because it lets you:
    • Change your signature options. You can hide all signatures by choosing "Settings" (top right) then "General Settings" (middle left) and unchecking the box "Show Signatures" (in the "Thread Display Options" area).
    • Create an ignore list. I know it may seem unneighborly. But you're here to talk about the Pacers, not argue with someone who's just looking for an argument. Most of the regular users on here make use (at least occasionally) of the "Ignore" feature. Just go to "Settings" -> "Edit Ignore List" and add the names.

    Enjoy your time at PD!

If you have seen the quote of Gortat against Nene I think you won't even consider him being part of the Pacers. Good call by the management to not pursue Nene.

As far as I know, Bird wanted both Nene and West on that same year, but only West joined and Nene didn't. I think we dodged a bullet there.

I never preferred one over the other and was quite excited when West signed. I took to heart the criticisms of Nene as overrated.

I was in the Nene camp, I wanted the big man who could play the 4/5. Glad to admit that I was wrong.

I wanted Nene, and I was against West because I figured his knee would render him ineffective.

I was pretty much as full of horse hockey as it is possible to get, and I don't even own a horse, let alone one that plays hockey.

Ya but who knows if Nene comes here it coulda been different. no one knows. Bird wasn't going to pay Nene max.

I would love to add Nene as our backup big...

damn reality we can make it happen !!!!

    "green"

*** DWEST Leadership was sorely needed. True professional. Cant find that in just young players no matter how much "P" they got.

I am curious, do you guys think Bird would have chosen West over Nene if Nene was willing to take the same contract West got? He did after all visit Nene first. My point is, was it really Bird making the right choice in player, or was it simply a math equation that most people on this board would have made the same decision?

This is David West, he is the Honey Badger, West just doesn't give a *****....he's pretty bad *ss cuz he has no regard for any other Player or Team whatsoever.

I was for getting West or Nene but I rated Nene higher because of his ability to play PF and C.

I was estatic that we got David West, especially when it was rumored he was going to sign with the Celtics. I seriously remember where I was and what I was doing the moment I found out because I got so excited that I spilled coffee on my pants when I read the first tweet saying he agreed to sign with the Pacers. I was still so happy that the coffee spill didn't even faze me or wipe the smile off of my face.

Larry is not coming back, he didn't have a meeting with Orlando for not reason, yeah he is coming back to the NBA but not to the Pacers, the notion that he is a taking a year off and then come back is absurd.

I think once David West went out with a late season ACL tear everyone wanted Nene over him and for good reason.

    Oh the memories.

We lucked out in the end.

Well, yeah. No one ever comes back from a knee injury.
