So yeah... 73 points for the Wiz, another season low by 6 points! Cat > Mouse.
"It's just unfortunate that we've been penalized so much this year and nothing has happened to the Pistons, the Palace or the city of Detroit," he said. "It's almost like it's always our fault. The league knows it. They should be ashamed of themselves to let the security be as lax as it is around here."

As good as Lance was, he needs to work on keeping his composure out there. 8 turnovers is waaaay too much.

I wanted Lance to get that triple double so bad. But I won't criticize Vogel for it, he actually forced fed Lance a handful of possessions for he took him out. Not Vogel's fault he couldn't capitalize. Plus Lance was starting show boat out there a bit and that would have garnered some retribution from the Wizards.

    right.

    but who cares.
I know many will disagree....but I actually care.

First off, so that all of you know where I am coming from.....I agree that Lance ( overall ) had an amazing game against the Wizards. There was some "ups" ( 10 reb / 10 assists ) but there were also some "downs" ( 8 turnovers ). Like always....he can be the "X-Factor" in any game. With a 20+ point lead ( like in this game )....I'm okay with such "showcasing"....cuz at that point....we can afford to see Lance put on a "show" even if it translates into 8 turnovers over the course of the game.

I will say that I ( like many here ) will always be in awe of his passing and court vision that translates into me jumping out of my seat. But speaking in "general" terms....and not to the specifics of this game....I will repeat what I have said in other Game threads, I'm not a fan of Lance and his fancy passes. I don't really like "showboating" of this nature.

I know that many of you will probably disagree with this post and say that I am being a "party pooper" here, but I just hope that Lance knows when to "turn on" the showboating and when to "turn it off". In a game ( and I'm not talking about this game ) where the Pacers play Elite Level Teams that just feast on the other Team making mistakes......we can't afford to make mistakes. For every "DAMN!!!! did you see that pass?" that Lance makes over the course of the game, there is often a corresponding "DAMN! Why the EFF did he try to make that pass?" that Lance makes.

To be clear, before you start writing a huge "What are you smoking?" post....please re-read my post before you embark on such a post . I am not trying to take anything away from Lance and his performance in this last game.....I'm just saying ( overall ) that I really hope ( if not expect ) that with experience ....Lance can learn to run a more controlled offense where he can create more opportunities for the rest of the Team as opposed to lost opportunities from him creating turnovers.

Agreed. I was rooting for Lance's triple-double as well and I was bummed that Frank took him out but I won't criticize him for it.

I think he should have called a timeout. Told lance he had one 3 to get it And they would run the play for him. But make or miss he would be coming out afterwards. But thats my too cents.

Are you implying that he needed be told he was a 3 shy? Lol Lance knew exactly what he needed for a triple double. He was very clearly seeking it out as early as the 2nd quarter. If you watch Lance after any good play he makes he comes back down the court looking at the stat board. The guy is always VERY aware of his stat lines lol. I don't mind it against these poor teams as these type of things seem to help keep him engaged, but I do hope in tighter/harder games he doesn't let his stat-seeking get in the way of the game. It clearly effected the way he played tonight as you could see once he got to 9 assists he was forcing a lot of tough passes resulting in TOs, then once he got the 10th assist he then clearly knew he just needed the points as he was trying to score every time he touched the ball from that point on. Again doesn't bother me in these kind of games and was fun watching his play-making ability, but it was kind of off-putting seeing him try so overly-hard to where it got us out of our flow just to get it for him. I know he says in his post game interviews that he just lets it come in the flow of the game but that is just obviously not true anyone that watched that game knew he knew what he needed each play and could tell that the stat he needed dictated his play. He also got a lane violation trying to rebound a missed FT to get his 10th rebound. I love watching Lance play and watching his play-making is a thing of beauty but come on Lance if you get a triple double you get a triple double don't letting the meaning of a triple double get watered down by forcing them.

I think the idea wasn't to inform Lance of his stat line... It was just saying to call a time out and set something up for Lance and let him know this was a structured chance to get his triple double, the team and coaches are behind him to do it, but then he was going to pull him because the game was won and we didn't need him getting hurt or make it look like they were disrespecting the other team/game in the process.

Also, I don't necessarily have a problem with a player checking his stats in game. The problem comes when he and he alone decides to try and pad them versus just playing the game. IOW, if an assist presents itself in the flow of the game and the player makes it and wants to sneak a peek at his stat to see what he'd accomplished so far...fine.

Lance was forcing the issue at the end for points, but I got the feeling that his teammates wanted him to go for those 5 points to complete the milestone. The game otherwise was decided. So I didn't get the impression his teammates had a problem with what he was doing. No different than when a bench guy comes in to mop up at the end of the game and the guys try to get him a basket and want him to shoot.
Nuntius was right. I was wrong. Frank Vogel has retained his job.

I agree that the rest of the team wanted Lance to get his triple-double. They knew that Lance has done an excellent job at setting them up for 3 quarters and they knew that he deserved it.

It's on NBA.com highlights of the game, pass to Watson, not that either of the other 2 assists in the highlight reel aren't nice either.

That was pretty awesome, but I didn't even think that was the nicest pass from him last night. He had some spectacular threading the needle passes. One to Scola for the layup and one to PG that I liked even better.

edit: the one Magic Rat posted above was my favorite.

Lance was like a wizard (not from D.C., however) out there working all that magic (not Orlando). The crowd appeared to be excited about his play! I know we were here at home! Let's hope he can keep up the same clip (not L.A.) on the west coast trip! Go Pacers!

Watching us blow teams out never gets old. It's fun every time.

I love Lance and wanted him to get the triple double, but he was out of control at the end and needed to be pulled. I enjoyed the fans being into it, but I was cringing during the "we want Lance" chant.

But man, those passes tonight were special. Sometimes he looks like a high schooler playing against a bunch of middle schoolers.

Ian Report: The Ian had a tough first half and a stronger second. Gortat was a bully all game, forcing Roy into shots further from the basket, making shots and getting to the line. Mahinmi was able to scare multiple Maynors and Walls out of the lane and managed a respectable six points. Not too many opportunities for blocks for any Pacers tonight with the Wiz shooting and bricking so many jumpers. A C+ for no defensive rebounds or overtly hilarious plays. Even with a tough game for our backup center, you could see his worth when the Scola/Copeland frontcourt tandem came in for post-Lance minutes.

But really, great game. Bummer Lance couldn't get the triple-double, but it was fun to watch him try. We just play with teams now. Our talent level is beyond most of our opponents. Can't wait for 5 of the next 6 games where we are more equal with our opponents.

If it was Lance's first triple double, or even first of the season, I could see keeping him in there for it (and chanting about it).... but the dude's already had two this year, and has all the talent to have a huge number throughout his career within the flow of the game. So, I'd like to see him act like a pro about it (as he apparently did after the fact), and not sulk like a baby when he comes out (then have the crowd support him in that).

Let's go babay... The real test begins sunday, I believe with Roy in there we can keep Blake and Jordan out the paint. Also, Wizards are the second best team in the NBA in fast break offense(18 PPG), We gave up zero to them. Man there was a play were I was like got dammm, It look like a game of Tetris, On how great our defensive rotations fell. All of there pieces were covered. Great win no doubt.. BUT LET'S GO SHOW THE BIG BAD WEST WHOSE THE BEST TEAM IN THE LEAGUE, Even though it's going to be hard as hell.
