Still too early to tell. Especially with that make up of a roster, I could see anybody having a rough beginning (lack of chemistry, so many alphas, etc.). Don't they also have some injury issues?

Lawrence Frank looked like the head coach against the Pacers, Kidd looked like a deer in the headlights.

Don't want to poop on Kidd's potential coaching ability but during our game he was like "hey what am I supposed to here Lawrence?"

You guys forget Larry Bird started out 2-5 when he first started coaching and JKidd is in a worse situation, because of injuries.

Buncha pieces thrown together; I expected them to go through something similar to what we did last year. Were people really expecting them to be a winning team right off the bat?

Welcome to Pacers Digest! New around here? Here are three tips for making the forum a great place to talk about Pacers basketball.

    • Log in. Even if you want to read instead of post, it's helpful because it lets you:
    • Change your signature options. You can hide all signatures by choosing "Settings" (top right) then "General Settings" (middle left) and unchecking the box "Show Signatures" (in the "Thread Display Options" area).
    • Create an ignore list. I know it may seem unneighborly. But you're here to talk about the Pacers, not argue with someone who's just looking for an argument. Most of the regular users on here make use (at least occasionally) of the "Ignore" feature. Just go to "Settings" -> "Edit Ignore List" and add the names.

    Enjoy your time at PD!

Bird also walked into a team that was pretty solid with their identity, and the key pieces had played a long time with each other. Kidd is trying to put together a bunch of old, broken pieces.

What if someone from a school of business or management school were to ask, How did you do this? How did you get the Pacers turned around? Is there a general approach you've taken that can be summarized?

    Larry Bird: Yeah, patience.

Jason Kidd can do or not do anything he wants. Nothing can stop him on his way to a championship. It's what he was put on earth to do.

It was a bad move, and I don't think they will get to .500 this year.

It hasn't looked like that just against the Pacers. Jason Kidd was kind of in Pierce and Garnett's era.... now he is coaching them....
"We've got to be very clear about this. We don't want our players hanging around with murderers," said Larry Bird, Pacers president.

I feel bad for Kidd but he chose this and I do think he was a bad choice for a group of ball dominate vets. I don't feel bad for the Nets. To me seeing the Nets struggle is a feel good story. I hate seeing one team try to buy a title and have an unfair advantage over everyone else. If they won a title by going this route I think it would be bad for the game. The new cba might cost us a player next year but so far I like the direction it's taking the game, if the Nets were successful in this it would undermine that.
I think it's good for the game to see L.A. take it's turn going down after having everything handed to them for so long. I hope they stay down or at best mediocre for a long time

The Jason Kidd hiring was nothing more than a publicity stunt for an attention whoring owner. The Nets' entire off-season strategy for the past two years is to grab as many "big name" guys as possible. Joe Johnson, KG, Paul Pierce, Jason Terry are all former all-stars well past their primes, and it was obvious this strategy wasn't going to work. Apparently their HC position was not exempt from this strategy. This goes to show that unless you get Lebron James, you cannot take short cuts building a contender. The Pacers blueprint is the best way to build a team: get lucky in the draft, and spend your FA money wisely on guys who may not have the "big names"

Kidd was certainly a dominate PG himself. He could dominant games on occasion...but yes I agree. He is not a dominate coach.
