Anyway, the whole thing blows. Freak knee twists are no fun. I hope he gets better sooner than later. League is more fun with him and we're plenty good enough to beat the Bulls butts with or without him

"If Rose decides to reattach the meniscus – usually the route taken by young players – he's expected to miss the rest of the regular season. To clip off the meniscus is a riskier long-term issue, but could have Rose back in one to two months."
You **** up once, you lose two teeth
As cautious as Rose was with his ACL I'd think he'll look long term and opt for the repair and I think he should. If that happens I'd look for Chicago to look long term as well so instead of keeping Deng as a 1 year rental for a title run I'll bet they trade him. I think Chicago will start looking at next year if Rose is expected to be out for the rest of the regular season.
I don't recall which thread it was in, but I made a definitive statement that I was sure Rose would not make it through the season, and would go out on injury.
Again, it's not me just hating on Rose and being a 'sore rival fan' - I just tend to have a good intuition for this type of thing because I've gone through it so many times myself.
Is Rose a 'chronic minor nagging injury' type of guy? No. He has sustained one (now two) major injuries. But sometimes even an elite athlete just has a proclivity towards getting injured. Derrick Rose is one such player.
If and when he returns from this injury, I would make the exact same prediction again, sadly.

Read my Pacers.com Guest Blog:
"Area 55 Conquers Staples Center"
It sucked when Granger got hurt last year, but I did not see many (if any) people going "well that sucks, but Im not gonna feel bad for him with all the money he makes".
Yes, I think we all understand these guys (and entertainers/athletes in general) are pretty well off. I think we also understand we are on a NBA forum, where it is understandable to talk about such issues, mega money be damned.
Also, I dont remember who said it, but I agree with the person who said these guys live their respective sport. I am sure life would go on, but lets not pretend these guys (esp. at the elite level) dont eat, sleep, poop, dream, etc basketball.
This injury sucks, if for no other reason than I enjoy watching Rose beat up on teams that are not the Pacers.
Hope he gets well soon, though I fear he may not be coming back any time soon.

I agree with this. The Bulls are $7 million over the luxury tax too. They have an owner who doesn't want to pay it, and this will be the 2nd year in a row they've done so. Without Rose, the Bulls aren't contending for the title. So I think they'll look at trading Deng for some salary relief this season.
Deng for Derrick Williams and Corey Brewer? That saves the Bulls about $4.5 million, not counting luxury tax. That's an example of a deal the Bulls could consider.
"See how stupid those fans sound complaining about the officials. That is one reason why I hate when Pacers fans complain about the refs - does not come across well at all, no matter the merit. "

Derrick Rose's meniscus surgery is set for Monday. Expect a reattachment and lengthier rehab process. Tribune Blog: http://trib.in/18zBwTC
I'd be shocked if we saw him again this year.

Deng is so under appreciated by the Bulls management and fans. They've rode him like a horse (to many minutes at times) and he has consistently delivered. I hope they do trade him so they see what they had.
I haven't seen a huge sample of Jimmy Butler, but what I have seen he seems way over rated by Bulls management and especially fans.
"Just look at the flowers ........ BANG"
I didn't say that. I said financially Chicago is in the same place with Deng and Butler as we are with Granger and Lance and that is that one player will have to go. Deng will cost more then Chicago can pay him next year so he's gone anyway. They're anticipating and extension for Butler. I expect that if Rose is out for the rest of the regular season then Chicago will see their title hopes vanish for this year and decide to move Deng for future picks.
If Deng had a rim protector like Roy, he'd be even more of a defensive beast.
Send him to the Western Conference. Get him away from PG and Danny.
Welcome to Pacers Digest! New around here? Here are three tips for making the forum a great place to talk about Pacers basketball.
- Log in. Even if you want to read instead of post, it's helpful because it lets you:
- Change your signature options. You can hide all signatures by choosing "Settings" (top right) then "General Settings" (middle left) and unchecking the box "Show Signatures" (in the "Thread Display Options" area).
- Create an ignore list. I know it may seem unneighborly. But you're here to talk about the Pacers, not argue with someone who's just looking for an argument. Most of the regular users on here make use (at least occasionally) of the "Ignore" feature. Just go to "Settings" -> "Edit Ignore List" and add the names.
Enjoy your time at PD!
"It's just unfortunate that we've been penalized so much this year and nothing has happened to the Pistons, the Palace or the city of Detroit," he said. "It's almost like it's always our fault. The league knows it. They should be ashamed of themselves to let the security be as lax as it is around here."

I could see Cuban offering Marion and filler for Deng. Expiring contract this year and it saves the Bulls some L.T.
that Bulls/Nets Christmas game was a great decision by the league
I've been trying to figure out how to get Deng to Houston
Out for the year. Wow. Just wow.
Million dollar question is if Bulls can still make playoffs (again) in weak East. I say yes.
