Here is a great photo from the NY daily News of the foul call on Paul's three.

The NY media is so brutal when they report on the Knicks. Always, when it doesn't go right they have nothing positive to say.

I mean in a similar situation, like say last year if the Pacers had lost to a superior Miami team, the Indy media would have simply called it as it was. But the NYC media just kills them.

I bet the players/coaches don't read the papers...

I mean, if I'm the Knicks that game was awesome. A superior team had to get overtime to beat them. I mean, losses suck but you can't say the Knicks didn't show up. They sure as hell showed up yesterday.

If the Knicks can play like that against other teams they are going to win a lot of games this season. I thought their defense last night was second only to the Bulls defense against us so far this season.

One thing I don't believe has been brought up in this thread was our lineup of Scola, Copeland and Paul George as our front line., it was only for about a minute, but defensively it was hard to watch (even though Cope defended Anthony well) but without Roy or Ian in there or at least West our interior defense was nonexistant

    Good:

    Pacers won the game.
Pacers won the game shooting 38%.
    PG only had 1 TO.
    PG had a good game.

    Bad:

    Pacers shot 38%.
    Pacers got out rebounded.
    Pacers shot "30" 3 pters.
    Only 32 PIP(pts in paint).

Hibbert not involved as much as he should be.
Pacers setting for 20 3pters in 1st half digging themselves into a hole.

Pacers have to quit allowing other teams to put them in a hole the 1st half. Better teams won't allow the Pacers to claw back into the game in the 2nd half. Constantly playing from behind will cause the Pacers to get bit when they can ill afford it. When the Pacers got up by 5-6 points in regulation, I kept saying the Pacers needed to put their foot on the Knicks and crush them. Instead, they let them back into the game. The Pacers are fortunate to have won this game, and I'm elated they did. Take that Jimmy Boy Dolan! Money can't buy everything.

He presents a convincing argument. Especially considering he hates Melo and loves PG.
To be fair, PG WAS a chucker in the first quarter, almost the first half.

I thought Roy's defense was honestly the turning point of the game, he started shading Paul every time Melo came to the post and that was pretty much the end of that.

There should be no reason why Scola plays center above Roy/Ian/West. Sure he can guard Bargs. But he can't protect the paint. Ian is playing much better this season so far. I would like to see West and Scola in there together more, and for the Pacers to run Horns.

From what I remember PG had 0/2 in the first quarter or something like that. He wasn't good though in general and that's what matters.

What I found 'lovely' and funny about that rant of the NY fan is that it sums up many Knicks fans. That complex they have. They think they are good but really they are not that good. They think the grass over there is greener than elsewhere. Don't get me started on the " PG is overrated on defense and Melo is better at rebounding".

Confirmed with the play-by-lay recap - PG 2-7 in the first half. 4-14 through the 3rd quarter. 5 shots from 3, only 2 shots that weren't jump shots. To me, that's the closest I'll come to saying someone is chucking.

I thought it was obvious that the Knicks game plan was to do everything they could to keep us out of the paint. They didn't actually play a zone, but their man-to-man was almost like a zone most of the night. Pacers had a lot of open threes, as the Knicks seemed OK in giving those up or were content to give those up with a defneder running at the shooter. They certainly weren't hugging the three poiint shooters

He indeed had 0/2 in the first quarter though. To me that is not chucking (you mentioned 1st quarter first and then the 1st half). As for the 2/7 is not good of course but it's not total chucking. Tends to be.

I think, especially after the time I spent discussing Danny as a "chucker", my definition is taking long jump shots (that aren't falling) when other options are still available (i.e. not last-minute late in the shot clock). I find I get really irritated when the offense falls into that mode.

If the defense is clogging the paint, drive into them and see what happens. If the refs call the offensive foul, then back off and look for perimeter shots. Otherwise, use it to see where the defenders move and if a ball handler can make a pass or get a look. Too often, settling for the 3 is the first option for the Pacers offense - has been for a long time (even pre-HeWhomWeDoNotName)

    I believe you mean:

Welcome to Pacers Digest! New around here? Here are three tips for making the forum a great place to talk about Pacers basketball.

    • Log in. Even if you want to read instead of post, it's helpful because it lets you:
    • Change your signature options. You can hide all signatures by choosing "Settings" (top right) then "General Settings" (middle left) and unchecking the box "Show Signatures" (in the "Thread Display Options" area).
    • Create an ignore list. I know it may seem unneighborly. But you're here to talk about the Pacers, not argue with someone who's just looking for an argument. Most of the regular users on here make use (at least occasionally) of the "Ignore" feature. Just go to "Settings" -> "Edit Ignore List" and add the names.

    Enjoy your time at PD!

I did see something I hope can work itself out. I'd rather PG not have to guard 'Melo for almost the whole time in a long series. Same with Lebron. There's two things that can help that, that are obvious. Danny coming back and/or Copeland being viable for consistent minutes. I just want 12 - 15 minutes that PG doesn't have to guards those types.

Side note of the obvious: PG's approaching next level stuff, i'll leave it at that so I don't jinx it.
