“People talk about how quiet he [McKey] is, but he’s really been helpful. He gives a lot of insight to players in how to guard certain teams and what their weaknesses are. The whole team listens to him, and it makes my job a lot easier. Having players like him is what pro basketball is all about for me.” —Larry Brown

Sure, I've been a little worried what would happen if Ian or Hibbert had to miss games. We really don't have a 3rd center on our roster.

Why? If Hibbert, Mahinmi and Scola were all hurt, I'd still put David West out of position at C before I'd play Kwame a minute there.
The poster "pacertom" since this forum began (and before!). I changed my name here to "Slick Pinkham" in honor of the imaginary player That Bobby "Slick" Leonard picked late in the 1971 ABA draft (true story!)

... Who would play next to D West? Copeland? And who after that?

I'm surprised you would suggest the question... What value do you see him bringing to our team?

He was a pretty good post defender, but Shaq and Yao do not play anymore...so pass.

He can't be the best player available...

Take a look at his numbers last season:

    http://www.basketball-reference.com/...l?mobile=false

His foul rate is very high and he doesn't appear to block much... He has no scoring game... And he's only appeared in 31 games over the last 2 seasons...

He's a decent rebounder... But not worthy of a contract IMO...

Guess the Kwame Brown draft starts again...

"It's just unfortunate that we've been penalized so much this year and nothing has happened to the Pistons, the Palace or the city of Detroit," he said. "It's almost like it's always our fault. The league knows it. They should be ashamed of themselves to let the security be as lax as it is around here."

Are you suggesting we claim him off the waiver wire or offer a minimum salary after he clears?
Welcome to Pacers Digest! New around here? Here are three tips for making the forum a great place to talk about Pacers basketball.

    • Log in. Even if you want to read instead of post, it's helpful because it lets you:
    • Change your signature options. You can hide all signatures by choosing "Settings" (top right) then "General Settings" (middle left) and unchecking the box "Show Signatures" (in the "Thread Display Options" area).
    • Create an ignore list. I know it may seem unneighborly. But you're here to talk about the Pacers, not argue with someone who's just looking for an argument. Most of the regular users on here make use (at least occasionally) of the "Ignore" feature. Just go to "Settings" -> "Edit Ignore List" and add the names.

    Enjoy your time at PD!

I would have rather signed JO in the off-season than pick up Kwame

JO's already hurt again. I wouldn't mind JO the player for what he is now. But given his past here I'd go crazy calling people idiots on twitter.

He wouldn't be a bad 3rd option for Center.

Our arena, their arena, Rucker park, it just doesn't matter. We're bigger, longer, younger, faster, and hungrier.

People were talking about a third center. He won't even play unless someone gets hurt. I'd take him in a heart beat...he's a big body.

So what's your plan if Roy or Ian get hurt?

If Roy or Ian get hurt enough to need a replacement, I might offer Kwame a 10 day contract to see if he could play at all. But I would certainly look at every available big before I did.

That was my 1st thought. It's pretty obvious with Chandler out the Knicks need a big man. Whether they have the money is another question.
