The Indiana Beer stand is on the east side of the Indy Star pavilion on the main concourse and typically has Triton Fieldhouse Wheat, Oaken Barrel Indiana Amber, Upland Dragonfly IPA, and Flat 12 Half Cycle IPA on draft, along with about a dozen bottled beers.

The main Sun King cart is usually at the south end of the Indy 500 pavilion on the main concourse. They serve from cans and have Sunlight Cream Ale, Wee Mac Scottish Ale, and Osiris Pale Ale.
This made my day. Anybody who knows Bill had no doubts that this thread would get a thorough detailed answer. We need a sticky where Bill gives reviews of each beer available at the games!

    >>>I just don't care for big, dark, hit-you-in-the-head-g'nite-mate brews.

Big, dark, hit-you-in-the-head-g'nite-mate brews are my favorite (this time of year). Dark Lord is good, but I think I may like Kentucky Breakfast Stout from Founders in Grand Rapids, MI a little better.

There is also a Sun King cart in the Balcony level that has brats/Italian sausages being grilled up and serves Sunlight Cream Ale and a seasonal, generally specialty type. Have had Chocolate Cake Porter, something about "Fruity Jam Pants(?)" and their harvest IPA from that cart that were all VERY good.

To the Three Floyds story above, I'll add that my brother lives in San Diego and there is a big time 3F cult out there. He was at the Pizza Port in Carlsbad and the guys behind the counter were all gathered round a keg and whispering to one another in hushed tones. Bro figured out it was a keg of Alpha King and asked for a pitcher, "this is really just for us... I can sell you a pint." "No, you'll sell me a pitcher and I'll keep quiet about it. Or, you can not sell me a pitcher and I'll make sure EVERYONE here knows about the keg." They sold him the pitcher. Don't mess with an Eastsider.
Founder's KBS is really strong, it is a my go to stout this time of year. Plus you can't beat a beer that has a baby on the label eating oatmeal.

The thing about Three Floyd's that is most impressive is their consistency among most of their beers. Though I will admit pride and joy & robert the bruce are not beers I would get again. RTB is way too malty IMO

Pfft. My bar always has Gumballhead. And Zombie Dust. not a big deal.
Uh, yeah it is. I know of one place in Indy right now that has Zombie Dust... Ralston's on Mass Ave. Otherwise ZD is VERY hard to find. Gumballhead is seasonal for the most part anyway when it's in season it's usually pretty easy to get.

Free Spirit it's a little shithole in Castleton, but we have badass beer. It's all bottled tho. (I like bottled beer).
Ah. Wonder if your owner buys up in big quantities when he can. It would be a smart move. I've never seen bottled ZD at a bar. Only on tap and with very little consistency.

Honestly, Indy is a great beer town considering where we are located. 3Floyd's is way top notch and local places like Flat 12, Sun King and places like Upland are all pretty good.

Also if you're into relaly small batch firkin finished beer you need to check out Union Brewing Company in Carmel.

Ha, I'm well aware, was talking a little bit of **** there. Took a lot of work for us to get Zombie Dust.

Yeah we stock up when we can. We have plenty of Zombie Dust, Gumballhead, and Robert the Bruce. The rest of our beer we don't have to worry about overstocking, because unlike 3 Floyds, you can get it consistently.

Robert the Bruce is a little sweet for Scottish, though not as sweet as Wee Mac. I like maltiness, I just like it to be more in the flavor and not in the residual sugars.

Yeah they are all cask conditioned and micro brewed on site by 3 dudes. Come on up and we'll get a beer. They have food trucks most nights too. One of my favorite spots. They have a beer engine with 6 or 7 taps. Generally they have 3 or 4 of their owned beers and then some guest ones. They also will have guest beers on their CO2 taps plus a decent bomber/bottle selection.

That's the odd thing I definitely prefer Wee Mac to RTB. Of course the one time I had RTB was with some sweet BBQ chicken wings so it might have been a sugar overload issue.

Damn. Just went to their web page and I'm drooling.

Gotta figure out how to get up there on a night I don't have to drive home. Shame they don't have Irish music...

I HIGHLY recommend their SassyPants Sassafras porter they have on tap right now. It is like a root beer flavored porter. They also have a pair of stouts and their IPA.

The Sinking Ship has an amazing tap list, too. Mostly drafts, but lots of small batch and hard to get type of stuff. They did just post about having Zombie Dust in bottles on FB in the last day or two.

Will have to check out this Union Brewing Co. sounds like my kind of spot.

Yeah, saw that mentioned in the video report linked above, and it looks like they actually have the SK brews on tap. I might have to wander my way up there.

The most recent SK special that I really like was Grapefruit Jungle. They came out with a limited run in cans and my lovely wife went to two or three liquor stores picking up the "max 2 per customer" for me.
Yes, this is VERY good info!! It will definitely be worth the walk!

Anybody ever try Bier Brewery? I think they are one of the best Indianapolis brewery's going right now, though they aren't real widespread yet.
