Thread: Bankers Life Fieldhouse beer list

Default Bankers Life Fieldhouse beer list

Is there somewhere I could find a beer list of all the beers available at Pacers games?

I know they have the usual Bud/Coors/Miller, but how's the craft beer availability? I heard there's a Sun King cart somewhere?

And do they have any hard ciders? Angry Orchard?

Dunno about Angry Orchard, I think there are two sun king carts just outside of both main food areas on the main concourse. Outside of sect 5-7 and sect 115 or so. There is also an Indiana Beer built in concession that has Flat 12 and other local indy brews in those main dining areas.

    List of BLF concessions.

Doesn't say what all they serve, though. Google 'em?

I know got a (couple or three) nice red ale there at...Bottoms Up, maybe?

Not really a craft beer, but Blue Moon is just outside Homecourt out of that barrell looking thingy.

The Sun King is pretty good, but I guess anything beats the BLF domestic beer which basically tastes like dirty water.

The Indiana Beer stand is on the east side of the Indy Star pavilion on the main concourse and typically has Triton Fieldhouse Wheat, Oaken Barrel Indiana Amber, Upland Dragonfly IPA, and Flat 12 Half Cycle IPA on draft, along with about a dozen bottled beers.

The main Sun King cart is usually at the south end of the Indy 500 pavilion on the main concourse. They serve from cans and have Sunlight Cream Ale, Wee Mac Scottish Ale, and Osiris Pale Ale.

They usually have Flat 12 Half Cycle and Sun King Osiris at the Indiana beer stand at mid court... They also have like Newcastle and some of the typical imports in another booth close by

The Indiana Beer stand doesn't carry any Sun King. They carry only beers that go through a distributor, and Sun King does their own - that's why they have their own stand.

Which is a real shame, because Sue at Indiana Beer has been my "beer lady" for years, but I like Osiris best of all the Indiana brews.

Have you tried Flat 12 Walkabout really fresh? It's a better Osiris, IMO with pretty amazing fruit aromas going on

I like Walkabout, and it's really close, but the consistency isn't always there from Flat 12 - I think they fiddle with things a little bit.

Actually I should say Osiris is my favorite of the generally available Indiana beers. My REAL favorite is pretty much anything from Black Swan brewpub in Plainfield.

Agree with the Flat 12 comments.. my two favorite Indiana beers are most certainly Zombie Dust and Permanent Funeral from Three Floyd, in that order. I don't think there's any beers even close.

Inside Indiana Business had an entire show dedicated to craft brewing in Indiana about a month ago. They had a small segment about the craft beer that is now available at BLF. Even said that Sun King I believe it was had a special beer just for the Pacers season although they did not say which beer it was.

Edit: Found the interview. It with Jerry Adams of Levy restaurants that do all the food/drinks inside BLF.

    http://www.insideindianabusiness.com...=25&Image.y=14

Its the one entitled "Craft Beer for Sports Fans." Can't link straight to it. The special beer Sun King made was for last season and available only at the fieldhouse.

If they carried 3 Floyds there's an at least non-ignorable amount of people that would go to games just because of that, seriously.

I'd have to check if they carry Pride and Joy or Alpha King in bottles. I don't know.

If they had Gumball Head I'd definitely agree with you...

Thanks for the info guys, really helpful. Looks like there's a nice selection.

I'll definitely check out the Indiana beer stand. I've wanted to try Osiris Pale Ale for a while so I'll check out the Sun King cart as well.

Great story so I'm out in San Diego and I'm going to this great small craft brewery called The Lost Abbey, probably my favorite craft brewery in the US, amazing Belgian style stuff for the most part, anyway they are in this small warehouse setting brewing and with a tasting room, I walk in and am talking to one of the bar tenders when he asks "Where are you from?" I reply, "Indiana", his response "that's too bad not much there compared to out here" and then the guy standing next to him goes "Yeah but they have Three Floyd's!" Pretty cool, we then started talking about 3 Floyd's and how they've always heard the amazing things especially about Dark Lord, but never get to try any of the beers.

Dark Lord has the cachet, but it really isn't my favorite of their beers. I just don't care for big, dark, hit-you-in-the-head-g'nite-mate brews.

Big, dark, hit-you-in-the-head-g'nite-mate brews are my favorite (this time of year). Dark Lord is good, but I think I may like Kentucky Breakfast Stout from Founders in Grand Rapids, MI a little better.

There is also a Sun King cart in the Balcony level that has brats/Italian sausages being grilled up and serves Sunlight Cream Ale and a seasonal, generally specialty type. Have had Chocolate Cake Porter, something about "Fruity Jam Pants(?)" and their harvest IPA from that cart that were all VERY good.

To the Three Floyds story above, I'll add that my brother lives in San Diego and there is a big time 3F cult out there. He was at the Pizza Port in Carlsbad and the guys behind the counter were all gathered round a keg and whispering to one another in hushed tones. Bro figured out it was a keg of Alpha King and asked for a pitcher, "this is really just for us... I can sell you a pint." "No, you'll sell me a pitcher and I'll keep quiet about it. Or, you can not sell me a pitcher and I'll make sure EVERYONE here knows about the keg." They sold him the pitcher. Don't mess with an Eastsider.

Yeah, saw that mentioned in the video report linked above, and it looks like they actually have the SK brews on tap. I might have to wander my way up there.

The most recent SK special that I really like was Grapefruit Jungle. They came out with a limited run in cans and my lovely wife went to two or three liquor stores picking up the "max 2 per customer" for me.
