Donatos-But they are way too expensive, and their online coupons are almost worthless. Plus the location by our house has just constantly screwed up our order, or better yet, completely forgot to make that damn thing. So we have implemented a family boycott on that Donatos Location so therefore we dont' eat Donatos. But in general their Pizza when made right is great.

Papa Johns - typically a good pizza, always have a good deal that lets us get a large 5 topping and a cheese bread for under $20. Not too greasy either.

Marcos - I wanted to love them, the big square deal is a good. We probably ate there exclusively for a year (pizza wise). But their pizza is just soaked in grease, and you just get tired of that. I just a good pizza on the amount of grease that collects on top and on the paper mat inside the box.

PizzaHut, I honestly just don't trust them. Everything there tastes pre-packaged. Its greasy, the kitchen never looks clean.

    The independants:

Some Guys: Our current fav. Can be very expensive if you order it your way, but if you stay on menu and just order one of their combinations you can do a bit better. We get the Classic Pizza (pepperoni, sausage, mushroom) its a damn good pizza they put some Fontina and Mozzerella cheese blend. They square cut it here, its thin crust, but not too thin, and Good basic Garlic Bread.

Bazbeux? - yes I like them, probably the best gourmet pizza i've ever had. Love the Tuna and Ricotta pizza, and thats the problem with them. I like their unique combinations, and my wife does not. I'm not paying that price for a standard pizza. Plus I can never find parking in Broadripple to go pick it up. Same with Hotbox who I hear is good, but they only have on street parking so literally picking up a pizza becomes a hassle. so I've not bothered to try them.

I'm a big fan of Mellow Mushroom in Carmel. I know they're a chain but that is the only one in the area that I'm aware of.

Best - Pizza King. Go off menu (usually anyways) and get a bbq baked ham (sometimes it's straight Hawaiian, so I get without pineapple). Half bbq/ham and half peperoni/mushroom is something I could probably live off of. There are two small towns that make up my area, neither one has a stoplight but both have a pizza king.

Pizza I've had that I've loved, (mostly chains that are regional at best):

Pizza Express in Bloomington(Now Pizza X, not as good as it used to be I think.)
    Giordanos
Guy's Pizza in Kent(my favorite to this day) also a few locations in Cleveland.
Papa Johns(not the best, but fine in a pinch)
    Z Pizza(my favorite in C-Bus

    Ones I don't care for:
    The Hut
    Noble Roman's
    Domino's
Donato's(they're everywhere here in Hell[Buckeye country]) they're not bad, but I'd rather eat something else.

Really surprised that almost all the people in this thread dislike Pizza Hut yet it remains probably the most popular chain in the country. There are a lot of suckers out there I will say at least Pizza Hut doesn't charge twenty bucks for a large pizza like Donatos and Pizza King. Yes....I'm bitter.(just kidding)

Foreign input: Over here, Domino's and Pizza Hut are by far the best. You will find some good local no mega chain ones but tend to be really rare.

Always wondered about one pizza brand over there is US. I'm talking about Papa John's. I have literally (grammar thread) been bombarded by Peyton and the respective ads. For some reason and without ever having tasted it, I expect it to be the equivalent of what McDonalds are to the burgers. The worst.

I would consider Little Ceasar's or Dominos the McDonald's of pizza places over here.

I can still eat Pizza Hut and I love Pizza King (can tolerate Papa John's and can't stand Dominos), but there's a place up in Fort Wayne called Oley's that is absolutely EPIC, especially when you eat their double decker meat lover's pizza.

It's good to the very edge!

Not all of their locations are great, but for those that are nothing beats it IMO.

On Indy's southside (and it's no-eat-in) Bob's Tu Your Door. Their sausage is the least greasy sausage I have had anywhere in any dish and about an inch deep. In Greenfield is Mozzi's .....great great Nacho Pizza, the Jalepaneo's will flat burn you out (especially tomorrow morning) but you'd better love cheese because they put a ton of 4 types of cheese on it.

I'd rather cut my eyes out than eat Pizza Hut again....wth have they done to themselves????
The Mozzis on 40 is worth it just for all the 90's NBA memorabilia, and the pizza is pretty darn good too...

Jockamo is located in Irvington and Greenwood.
Pizzology is in Carmel and soon to be Mass Ave I believe.

Brozinni down on S. Emerson is pretty darned good. They use Boars Head meats and cheeses.
Have had their "Park Avenue" pizza a couple times and was stuffed after only 2 slices!

Have also made a few trips to the SE side to get pies from Pizza Doughmain. Not bad at all,
and the folks there are very friendly and usually will offer you a complimentary soft drink
to sip on while waiting for your pie to cook.

If you ever get by Wanamaker, the New Bethel Ordinary is definitely worth a visit. The first time I
ever ordered a pizza there, they handed me the box and I thought "wow this thing weighs a ton".
Took it home and weighed it, and it weighed almost 7 lbs.! Absolutely stacked and very gooey.

Forgot about Ale Emporium in Castleton. They used to have a deal that if you ate a SMALL pizza by yourself you got it free. That's how thick it is. Pretty good too.

I've has Ordinary's in Wanamaker. It's been a while ago but it's kind of similar to Ale Emporium if I remember right.

Jockamo's must have had a bad day when I finally tried them in Irvington because I wasn't impressed at all. They had been talked up a bunch by friends though so I was excited to try them maybe that was part of it. I live in New Pal across the street from Y-Not Pizza and Round the Corner pub, and both of those have great pizza so I can't even remember the last time I bought a chain pizza. Round the Corner is especially good. Reminds me of Ordinary's in Wanamaker, but with flavor.

I don't eat chain pizza all that often, but I had some Pizza Hut a few weeks ago, did they change their recipe or something? Maybe it's nostalgia, but I remember it being pretty good when I was younger. I don't know, the sauce seemed really sweet, and there was a lot of it. Maybe I just got a bad pie or something.

It didn't happen to be Pizza Hut in Greenfield did it? It was years ago now, but my wife and I made that exact comment about that Pizza Hut, that somehow it tasted different than any other we had been to.

You talking about the one not too far from Keystone? I used to get it quite often but haven't had one in a few years. Very tasty and that place is the definition of hole in the wall.
Yep Between Uni Indy and Keystone. I used to know the original Bob. He'd take a big wooden pestle, a colander, and sausage, and stand for hours pressing the grease out of the sausage. He said you could never get enough grease out of the meat. I still get one but rarely.

Our group is now meeting every Monday evening at Jocomo's (sp) in Irvington. The meatball sandwich didn't excite me though.

Just now realizing Greek's was so spread out over. For some reason, I've always thought of it as a Muncie chain that's slowly expanding like Scotty's Brewhouse. Guess I should read the menu more often, considering it says pretty point blank that they have over 135 locations around the US.

Many of nights I've spent standing in line for what seemed like way too long, trying to fight the drunk munchies. I highly recommend the Gourmet Wings. It's even better the next morning cold.
