Question What Is The Best And Worst Major Pizza?

Since pizza is so universally loved lets get everybody's opinion on your favs and least favs. Heck....even throw in those hole in the wall great pizza places if you want to. Somebody comment on Papa John's as I haven't had it in like forever. I'll start off with a few comments:

Marcos: Love it. Big pizza toppings and very good sauce and crust

Pizza King: Like it a lot, but it is WAY over priced. Little squares and small toppings yet you will pay $23.00 or so for a large loaded. Their parking lots are always empty. Take a hint...lower your prices.

Basbeaux's: Been a while since I had it, but great gourmet style pizza place although I usually just get a sausage and pepperoni. I know there is one in Broad Ripple and Carmel.

Pizza Hut: Not horrible, but the most over-rated of the major chains. All their crusts taste pre-made(although they are not) and the Pan crust especially is really greasy. Their sauce is nothing special and they are sometimes skimpy with the cheese and even toppings. Not one of my favs.

Dominos: I know you can get them cheap, but it's almost bottom of the barrel for me. Last time I got one it was bland.

Lets hear your favs and least favs or just general comments. I love trying new pizzas and breadsticks and such.

Round Table is the best Major I've had.

Pizza Hut has made it to worst place.

Glad somebody agrees with me about Pizza Hut. I can't figure out why it's still so popular. Where is Round Table at?

I seriously would rather have a $2 to$3 dollar frozen pizza than the Hut's garbage. For chains Monicals isn't too bad.

I prefer Papa John's myself (especially when the Pacers score 90)

Round Table is ok, but its more expensive than the big three (Pizza Hut, Dominos, Papa Johns). When I go with one of those its Papa John's just cause its closest to my house. We usually go to a local place for our pizza. Sucks because how expensive it is out here. I was used to paying $20 for two large pizza's back east, where here its $20 for one.

On Indy's southside (and it's no-eat-in) Bob's Tu Your Door. Their sausage is the least greasy sausage I have had anywhere in any dish and about an inch deep. In Greenfield is Mozzi's .....great great Nacho Pizza, the Jalepaneo's will flat burn you out (especially tomorrow morning) but you'd better love cheese because they put a ton of 4 types of cheese on it.

I'd rather cut my eyes out than eat Pizza Hut again....wth have they done to themselves????

You talking about the one not too far from Keystone? I used to get it quite often but haven't had one in a few years. Very tasty and that place is the definition of hole in the wall.

Yep Between Uni Indy and Keystone. I used to know the original Bob. He'd take a big wooden pestle, a colander, and sausage, and stand for hours pressing the grease out of the sausage. He said you could never get enough grease out of the meat. I still get one but rarely.

Our group is now meeting every Monday evening at Jocomo's (sp) in Irvington. The meatball sandwich didn't excite me though.

The Mozzis on 40 is worth it just for all the 90's NBA memorabilia, and the pizza is pretty darn good too...

Yes, that is some delicious pie. I grew up in that area and it has always been one of my favorites.

I am a pizza snob, I admit it. Don't like any of the national chains. And I thought Marcos, the one time I had it was inedible.

There are a few pizza places that I think are pretty good, and maybe cost a little less than the top places. Hot Box pizza isn't bad, Monicals isn't bad, that is about it

Dominos new recipe was a good shift. I really liked Oleys (http://oleys.net/) in the Fort. Perillos in North Salem is amazing as well (https://www.facebook.com/pages/Peril...89450174426944).

Pizza Hut sucks. I really like the crust of Papa Johns. Sauce of Dominos. And ingredients of Papa Murphys.

Actually Papa Murphy's is probably my favorite of a chain pizza place.

I really like Marcos and you can get some really good deals sometimes - like twofer Tuesdays.

My favorite chain pizza though has got to be Donatos. I love their crust, their toppings, their breadsticks and most importantly their cheese sauce. I'll eat a pepperoni pizza with a couple cups of cheese sauce to dip it in, and I'm in heaven. The only thing not to like is the price which is usually a good 50% more than everyone else.

Honorable mention goes to Noble Romans. Don't always like it but sometimes I just get a hankering and nothing else will do.

It certainly is one of mine, but as you said the price keeps me away most of the time. Can't believe they don't offer better deals being that the pizza is kind of thin to begin with. Donotas and Pizza King being over-priced are my two main gripes about the pizza industry.

I'm in the camp that even most 'bad' pizza is still kind of good, so I like Pizza Hut as long as it's not too often, same with Papa John's. I feel like Pizza King is usually a bit better than them, or maybe it's just different. Basbeaux's was better than all of them, pretty easily. I've never had Dominoes or Marcos.

Little Ceasar's anybody? LOL Their pizza might not be the greatest, but you have to try the pepperoni cheese bread. Just killer.

If you're ever on I-74 heading west, the next to last exit before Illinois is a Covington exit (not Hwy 63...the one before that). It has the appropriately named Overpass Pizza. Best thin crust pie I've had in Indiana. They don't take credit cards, unfortunately.

    Not a major brand, I know...but worth a stop.

    Papa Johns is pretty good.

Haven't had Little Caesars in years, but I'll always have a soft spot for them.

Is Pizza King a chain? I like them. Good sandwiches too.

Noble Romans in my hometown of Peru is pretty damn good.

The absolute worst is a tie between Pizza Hut and Dominoes. Just awful pizza.
