My prediction: Solomon Hill is going to lead the team in Surprisingly Good Plays for the year. -10/29/2014
Just to clarify, this is not a Reggie vs Paul thread. Its the era of Miller which was pretty damn good for an entire decade vs what the current Pacers team's potential is with George & Hibbert.
Call me in 2027 when Paul George has finished his 18th season in a Pacers uniform...
I believe in this roster. Paul George, Roy Hibbert, George Hill, Lance, DWEST solid core for the next 5 years if we can keep intact.
My votes been placed. I echo others sentiments tho, Reggie will always be #1 at least until we raise a Banner.
If it takes until 2027 I may want to reconsider my nomination.
“This was just a taste,” George said. “I want to be here every year until I can’t go no more.”
It's never too early to give an opinion on how you think/hope the George era will compare to the Miller era. That's why we're here, to give our opinions. Obviously, it's too soon to compare what George has done so far to what Reggie's teams accomplished, but that isn't the question being posed.
I think Paul George, and this group of guys, has an excellent chance to surpass what the Reggie-era teams accomplished. Mainly, by winning a title or two.
PG for sure, but it's too early to say for certain. Injuries can change everything.
Talent alone, it's no contest.
3 scenarios for the draft, starting with my favorite first:
1. Pacers trade up for Justice Winslow
2. Take WCS or Stanley Johnson (this is the theory of a player falling); Make trades (Hibbert/West/others) for additional picks - George Lucas and Rakeem Christmas are players I'd love to have with a late first/early 2nd round
3. Trey Lyles
I'm sure my opinion will change many times before the draft though.
It's early, but if I had to make a bet on it...Paul George will retire the best player in franchise history. Hopefully the best era too /fingerscrossed
On the Lance bandwagon
"It's just unfortunate that we've been penalized so much this year and nothing has happened to the Pistons, the Palace or the city of Detroit," he said. "It's almost like it's always our fault. The league knows it. They should be ashamed of themselves to let the security be as lax as it is around here."
----------------- Reggie Miller
A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush.
Or throw in a first-round pick and flip it for a max-level point guard...
If they ever make a dvd about Paul Georges heroics then we will have this discussion. I love the kid but the things Reggie did cannot be duplicated.
Paul George has a long way to go to match Reggie. I do think the PG era could match Reggie's era, because of our young core.
Good is the enemy of Great
We're changing the identity of our basketball team -- dramatically. We're a power post team -- a blood-and-guts, old-school, smash-mouth team that plays with size, strength, speed and athleticism. We attack the basket. . . . This is the new identity of our team. It was a great effort. I'm very proud of our guys."
-- Frank Vogel.
David "And One" West
Smits vs West is very close. West is better on defense, but Rik was on an entirety different level offensively. 7-4 that had several post moves, and could consistently make outside shots up to 20ft. He was a matchup nightmare for opposing centers
David "And One" West
It's too early to tell, he's like 24 years old!
I WANT KAMINSKY!
Paul George is way better than Derrick McKey.
Smits was a better offensive weapon than Hibbert but overall Hibbert is the better player.
Mark Jackson and George Hill are not far apart. I might give Jackson the edge.
Miller is better than Lance Stephenson at this point.
DWest is better than DDavis
Kravitz: why is Roys numbers down this year?
Bird: Well its not Lance stealing his rebounds this year.
Not the original question, but for the record, Paul George is already a far better player than Reggie Miller ever was.
"I had to take her down like Chris Brown."
