YESSSSSSSSSSSS EARLY CHRISTMAS PRESENT!
YESSSSSSSSSSSS EARLY CHRISTMAS PRESENT!
Good. Should at the very least give the roster a much needed injection of excitement. We've been feeling a little bogged down the past 8 games or so.
Anxious to see Danny back in action.
@Chris_Broussard: @dgranger33 told me he'll fit n seamlessly w/Indy. Said he's not the DG of 4/5 yrs ago, chucking shots on bad team. He'll get his n the flow
Would love to know the context, ie what DG's exact words were. That said, there's really no denying that he was a chucker, he just happened to be fairly efficient at it.
All of which is besides the point. I want him to take those shots off the bench. We need him to do what he does and has always done, just not with the starting unit.
Really? Cause I dont see quotation marks. Danny could have said "taking a lot of shots on worse teams" and broussard tweets that
I don't think many people argued that under the previous regime his purpose was to chuck three pointers. EVERYONE'S purpose was to chuck three pointers. The argument was whether or not it meant that was all he could or wanted to do. He is saying it is NOT what he is going to do and that he can do more.

Can't wait to see Granger tomorrow
Frank said 15-25 minutes apparently I forget where I saw it :X
The Captain is back! Can't wait.
Dribble? Don't think so.
Defend? Not this year with that knee.
Shoot? Ok, that he can definitely do. But let's not get carried away. He got his numbers on bad teams and was the only decent player. We probably have 4 or 5 guys on this team who are better players than a healthy Danny Granger.
I agree we could use him. He could help us quite a bit. But other than shooting and his size, what exactly does he bring that Orlando Johnson does not? That is really my main question.
With that said, I'm not saying OJ is close to as good as a healthy Granger. Danny has size and is a good scorer and great shooter. He is the best shooter on this team. I think he's a better shooter than Paul. So, he's going to help if he's 80%. But make no mistake. Danny will not be 100% this year and he will be a shadow of his former self...and it's too late for the man to return to form. You get past 30 and not play competitive basketball for going on 2 years and you just don't make it back.
Edit: He does not dribble and move well in traffic. He makes Paul George look like Kobe and Lance Stephenson look like Jamaal Tinsley.
Roy, Paul, Lance and David West are all better than Granger. They are so good they are making George Hill get heat around here. We have great players, not just good. This is not the JOb era when Granger is compared to Josh McRoberts, Troy Murphy and Mike Dunleavy. I can assure you that David West would look like a stud with that group too.
Edit: Seriously, one can argue that Lance isn't as good because he's not matured yet. But who would get paid more on the open market? Paul or Danny? Roy or Danny? DWest or Danny? DWest used to give us fits and easily matched Danny in those games as a Hornet.

We'll have to agree to disagree on Danny moving well with the ball. Danny does a lot more then just stand at the 3 point line and shoot. He wouldn't get to the free throw line so much if he didn't move with the ball and if healthy he gets to the line at a higher rate then any other Pacer.
I agree with you that we most likely won't see a 100% Granger this year, if we do it would only be because he stayed on the court for the rest of the season and started to really shine at the very end. However a healthy Granger, not peak Granger by say Granger 2011 is a better offensive player then anyone except for Paul and I'd say our 2cd. to 3rd. best player at this point. Lance, West, Scola and Hill aren't as good as Granger was. Granger wasn't just decent he led this team for 5 years prior to his injury, let's not forget how good he was just because he's been out. I'm not going to go out on a limb and say how good he's going to be though, this lengthy injury has frustrated me far too much.
Two players' stats both from their fourth season in the NBA
25.8 PPG 5.1 RPG 2.7 APG 1.4 BPG 1.0 SPG 44.7% FG 40.4% 3PT 87.8% FT 36.2 MPG
23.8 PPG 5.8 RPG 3.6 APG .3 BPG 2.0 SPG 46.1% FG 40.6% 3PT 85.8% FT 37.1 MPG
Player A is Danny Granger.
Player B is Paul George.
Look, I'm really not trying to turn this into a debate between the two of them because at this point Paul is the superior player by a good margin, but this comment that Danny was just a "chucker" is a bit silly. His year 4 season was every bit as impressive statistically as what Paul is doing.
You know what the difference was and is? Do any of you remember our most used 5 man lineup that year? Anyone? Anyone? Bueller? Here I'll remind you
compare that to
So yeah 2009 Danny Granger was a fantastic player, no he was not the defender Paul is, but dude was more than just a chucker. Just because he got hurt and also aged doesn't mean we should forget what he was able to do just so we can have a nice narrative. Because remember we have no idea what the future holds for Paul yet.
