    How 'Ferris Bueller' helped define the career of former Colts lineman Ryan Diem


    Peyton Manning is apparently a big "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" fan.

    Everybody talks about how complex Manning's offensive systems and audibles, but people often fail to mention how funny they can be, too. One such comical audible helped shape Ryan Diem's career.

    Diem, a Carol Stream, Ill., native who attended Glenbard North High School and Northern Illinois University, spent his entire career blocking for Manning on the Indianapolis Colts' offensive line.

    "Every position on the offensive line, all five of us, had a nickname. Those nicknames were also audibles for certain plays," Diem said on Thursday's SportsTalk Live show. "Because I'm from Chicago, my nickname was Abe Froman, Sausage King of Chicago. We had an audible called 'Sausage.' That meant it was a zone play to my side."
