    Default 70 wins??

I know this is too early, but I don't care. This Pacers team is ridiculously stacked, and quite frankly, the most talented group of players ever to wear the Pacer uniform. Paul George is the mythical superstar player that we have patiently been waiting for. Hibbert is the top defending center in the NBA and another all star. David West and Lance Stephenson are also borderline all stars. In an era with several elite PG's, George Hill matches up with the best of them. Our top two bench guys, Scola and Watson, are starters on most other teams. And we haven't even gotten to Danny Granger yet. Bring on 70 wins!!!!

I've been saying to myself all year that this team is good enough to break or at least challenge Miami's record winning streak this year. I don't know why but in the back of my mind I sort of expected them to at least rip off a good 20 game streak and to get the heads talking. Will they actually do it? I don't know but say they win out on this trip and do rip off a 20 game streak and threaten or break the win streak record, 70 wins is likely.

Would it be amazing for them to win 73 and the championship and I could brag that they were the best team of all time? Yes but this is the first time in years I'm missing Pacers games because I hit a rough spot and no longer have cable. I suffered through the JOB years now I'm missing the greatest season ever. Damn my luck lol.

Anyways I check the boxscores and forums religously and it seems Lance is approaching a triple double every game almost. Then I read the post game thread and people barely even mention it or even say he had a bad game or we should trade him. LOL

Not sure where you're seeing that. Lance is probably the most loved Pacer within all the forums, Pacers Digest included!

Sorry to hear about not being able to see the games though. If you're in the Indy area, you can always catch it on the radio! It's not the same, but hey--its something.

Loved? I don't know if I'd say that. Most talked about? At this point, absolutely. Most exciting? Arguably yes. Most loved, though, is pushing it. And if/when he takes his big payday somewhere else, the knives will come out. Now, some of them will be aimed at Herb and LJB, but they'll be out...

I should have clarified. Lance is kind of our "new toy" so everything he is doing is garnering more excitement and love from fans. We have all gotten used to (spoiled maybe) the David West's, Paul George's, and Roy Hibberts of the team. Because Lance's contributions are new, and rather exciting he's currently receiving the most love. At least IMO.

But I agree, if he leaves then a lot of that love will be directed elsewhere. I doubt that happens at this point however.

Being great is only part of having a streak like Miami did last year. Luck also plays a huge factor into it. Basketball can be a flukey game, and it's really hard to go 27 straight games without a fluke costing you a game. Even the legendary 96 Bulls who won 72 games only got as far as winning 18 straight, which was considerably behind Miami's 27 game streak. For as great as the Pacers have been this year, they have "only" been able to get as far as a 9 game winning streak. Putting together long winning streaks in the NBA is just an absurdly difficult thing to do. Even the bad teams have world class talent which can get hot and beat you. Most NBA champions don't have long winning streaks on their resume.

I don't want to go for 70 wins if it jeopardizes being able to prepare for various possible situations in the post-season by limiting minutes for susceptible players (like GHill) or bringing potential contributors up to speed (like Danny).

As long as we're well ahead of the curve for the 1 seed, I'd take 60 wins

This. 70 wins is simply too much. There is a reason that the only teams to reach 70 wins are legendary ones. We are very good but we're not legendary.

Let's take it a bit more slowly

Not going to happen. Besides, I don't care about 70 wins, I would only want enough needed to gain homecourt advantage throughout the playoffs. 70 wins means nothing if you don't win the championship.

Besides Pacers aren not that good. You do realize 70 wins would mean our regular season is only surpassed by the Bulls. And that is ever, in the history of the NBA, ever, ever, ever.

I'll be happy if we roll into the playoffs healthy and tuned in. The record can just be a byproduct.

This is stupid. Why stop at 70 when 80 is well within reach?

I ask myself, if it would mean more if this current team won 73 games and won the championship vs winning 60 games and winning the championship? Not to me, I mean sure for one season this would go down as one of the great teams ever, but I think the possible downside is too great. Going for 70 wins would mean we are playing our stars too much, plus it would place too much importance on the regular season. The coaches, players......have only talked about getting homecourt throughout the playffs, and we don't need 70 's for that. Plus just think if we win 73 games but not win the championship, that would work against us in the future

I don't really care about the regular season record, home court of course would be awesome and it sounds like the team gets that. It's no use just getting #1 in the east, they need #1 overall. Once they have that I don't care about the total number just that they be ready for the playoffs.

    HA!

No way in hell. The Pacers aren't playing that well. IF they had showed me something that they have found a way to assemble a spectacular offense to go along with the best defense in the NBA, than maybe. But no. At the moment, if they don't get their offense firing on all cylinders, I'll be doubting my 60 win prediction.

I just want to win the next game. The more times we are able to accomplish the task of winning the next game, the other stuff will take care of itself. Just take it one game at a time.

70 games would be nice but it's an impractical goal.

Having homecourt throughout the playoffs is a more practical goal. Winning the championship is a practical goal.
Nuntius was right. I was wrong. Frank Vogel has retained his job.
