Guys, it's Isola. Most Knick fans consider him a joke of a reporter if you take a minute and read their forums. I will worry when I hear about it from a reliable source. Candance would be such a source. Woj would be such a source. Isola just isn't reliable.
That's good to know; I wasn't aware of his reputation.

Obviously. And Buckner has no track record at all. That's not a knock on her, again, I like her a lot and she seems trustworthy, but it's just a fact. But writing this off because it's a Knicks (Donnie Walsh guy) guy saying it is just sticking your head in the sand. And it's not even news! Not even a #hotsportstake! Danny's got a bum knee, it hurts, it's always going to hurt. I'm Danny's age and don't have a degenerative condition and MY knee hurts. Seriously, this doesn't mean anything other than Danny still has a body that moves.
It's true that Buckner has not track record at all. But unlike Isola her job is to report about this team so I guess that she has some sources inside the team. That's all.

I'm not saying that this is news or anything. Some soreness is obviously expected. I just want to see it coming from a reliable source. That's all.

To be honest, my take on his reputation is based on what Knicks fans say themselves in their own forums. He could be a perfectly good writer that has just got a bad rep inside the Knicks fans community.

Isola has been in the NBA writing game for years.... I would suspect he has many sources.
Could be. But the thing is that Isola has been covering the Knicks throughout his career. He has not covered any other team. Does he have sources? Probably. Everyone does. I just don't think that his sources in other FOs are bigger than that team's own beat writer. That's all.

he Pacers could not have asked for a better start to the 2013-2014 regular season. They currently sit atop the Eastern Conference standings. They are 3-0 in the Central Division. They lead the league in seemingly every measurable defensive category. Watson and Scola are clear upgrades over last year’s bench. Paul George’s name is being tossed around as a possible MVP candidate. Roy Hibbert is starting to get national attention for his elite level defense.

    What is not to like?

Well, allegedly, all may not be well on the Danny Granger injury front. According to a report from the New York Daily News, Danny Granger’s injury woes extend beyond just a strained calf:

But all is not perfect in America’s heartland. According to a source, Danny Granger is experiencing soreness in his surgically repaired left knee after missing most of last season. The veteran forward is currently sidelined with a left calf injury that could keep him out another two weeks. The greater concern is his long-term health of his knee and whether Granger will regain his form.

This news comes off an earlier report that Danny Granger would be able to return to practice sometime next week. Prior to the Pacers’ game against the Raptors on Friday, Conrad Brunner of 1070 the Fan Indianapolis, relayed the following Granger injury update provided by Frank Vogel:

Danny Granger, out since Oct. 19 with a strained left calf, may return to practice next week, though Vogel said there is no expectation, or timeline, beyond that. Granger is trying to return after missing all but five games last season with a knee condition that required major surgery last April.

What is Danny’s real health status? How reliable is this unnamed source? That is all yet to be determined. Currently, the Pacers are well on their way to reaching Lance Stephenson’s goal of going 10-0. Even so, surely it would be the team’s preference to return Granger, a former All-Star, to the rotation sooner rather than later.
"We've got to be very clear about this. We don't want our players hanging around with murderers," said Larry Bird, Pacers president.

Thanks for providing Vogel's comment. The last paragraph of the article is really important. What's Danny's real status and how reliable is that unnamed source? I will wait for a member of the team to confirm it.

So far based on the reporting she has done, I would consider Candace an extremely reliable (and hard-working) source - meaning if she hasn't addressed this yet there is either too little information or nothing to address.

Im not going to write off Isola as unreliable, but I don't really pay much attention to Pacers reporting from a guy who doesn't cover the team.

Guys, we are talking about a New York reporter. Not an ESPN report, Yahoo reporter, Indy Star reporter, not someone who you would expect might be able to get a scope on the Pacers.

Well the "thanks" button is gone for now or I would thank this.
I'm glad to hear an update from Granger, I don't know what better source you could have.

When they say next week do they mean tomorrow or a week from tomorrow?

Welcome to Pacers Digest! New around here? Here are three tips for making the forum a great place to talk about Pacers basketball.

    • Log in. Even if you want to read instead of post, it's helpful because it lets you:
    • Change your signature options. You can hide all signatures by choosing "Settings" (top right) then "General Settings" (middle left) and unchecking the box "Show Signatures" (in the "Thread Display Options" area).
    • Create an ignore list. I know it may seem unneighborly. But you're here to talk about the Pacers, not argue with someone who's just looking for an argument. Most of the regular users on here make use (at least occasionally) of the "Ignore" feature. Just go to "Settings" -> "Edit Ignore List" and add the names.

    Enjoy your time at PD!

You guys can talk all you want about "reputable" or "reliable" but that is some great work by Candace. Rumor going around about Danny? Send him a text, get an answer, put it out there. That's seriously responsive.

I know that I appreciate it as a fan. The lack of informatiion coming from the Pacers has been frustrating in the past. Getting something like thsi out there has value.

I get the feeling that some reporters would have tried to drag it out so they could get a speculative column about it trying to decide if Danny was coached to lie about his knee.

And that last concept is why it won't be dead until Danny actually steps on the floor.

If his knee is hurting it's due to inflammation and that's not good news at all. With use it will get worse and hewill be sidelined. Anyway if true he should sit it out until January and attempt a comeback at that time.

If this is indeed true the Pacers credibility will take a hit because they need to communicate that instead of it being leaked out like that.
