    Default Radio problems

How in the world is it that I can listen to the Chicago post game and the Cleveland Cavs post game, while passing mile marker 214 on I69, and I can't find a single Indy station carrying the game? Come on, it's embarassing that those two stations can go hundreds of miles, and 1070 doesn't have enough strength to make it 25 miles outside of downtown Indy.

Muncie stations are worse, but it wouldn't have helped last night as BSU was thumping Cent. Michigan. Just really frustrating to be blacked out of the 1070 app on my phone because we're in the market area, only to have 1070 have a ****** signal that doesn't actually give them a market area.

    Any solutions?
Just because you're offended, doesn't mean you're right. ― Ricky Gervais.

What if someone from a school of business or management school were to ask, How did you do this? How did you get the Pacers turned around? Is there a general approach you've taken that can be summarized?

    Larry Bird: Yeah, patience.

Have you tried the 107.5 FM simulcast?

You got it for 25 miles? I'm envious! After the Pistons game the other night, I headed to the west side of the Indy metro area. As soon as I got west of 465 on Rockville road, the signal became complete crap. This was still in Marion Co.! What an absolute joke.

I would like to say yes, as I was literally flipping through each and every channel trying to find something, but I don't remember stopping specifically on that channel. I'll text myself so I won't forget. (yes, I do that with things I want to remember)

I was being generous. It starts cutting out right about the time I get on 69, and it's completely out by the Noblesville 210 exit. During the day I can get 1070 here in Muncie, assuming I'm out in the semi-open and not in a drive thru or something like that.

The Chicago station I can understand, but I was just floored that the freaking Cavs post game was audible.

1070 The Fan now simulcast on 107.5 FM which helps a lot.
Don't know how far north that goes.
You have to look around for strong FM stations at night obviously. 106.5 out of Vincennes really covers a lot of the southern, and SW part of the state.

1070 has always had to do a major power shutdown at sunset. It's one of the big reasons they moved WIBC to FM.

Only two affiliates north of Indy. That is really sad. Only one of them is an FM station.

AM does atmospheric skip (never mind the power allowed to stations in an isolated market). Every once in a while I used to be able to get WIBC 1070 in Atlanta.

Hard to do in the car unless you have a really good data plan.

Back before cable and dish were on board broadcasting HD signals I use to have mucho fun trying to pick up OTA HD channels using my outside Channel Master antenna. I live 8 miles east of the Illinois border but on nights when the fog would roll in I would pick up stations out of Dayton OH, Louisville KY, and Decatur IL using a Samsung set top box tuner. This was before the tuner was built into the television on those old hulking RPTVs.

Dunno that I'd equate "bliss" and "Eddie White", but I understand what you mean ...

The vast majority of WFNI's power is beamed SE after sundown.

I've listened to Pacer games numerous times on 1070 while in eastern Tennessee
thanks to evening skip conditions, and using a portable radio with directional ferrite
    rod antenna.

Good luck trying to get the FCC to approve changing this pattern for more
    northerly nighttime coverage .
