Default Paul George is the third best player in the NBA.

I'll say it. The MVPNNLOK (MVP not named LeBron or Kevin TM Grantland), he's the next best player in the NBA behind two guys who will end their careers among the top 10 players in NBA history.

He's the ****. Other than LBJ and Kevin, there is not another player I'd want under any circumstances.

I don't need to see him dominate Carmelo Anthony in the playoffs again. I don't need to see him harass Rose into an awful shooting night.. I've seen enough. We're watching what will be known as the greatest Pacers player ever.

And yeah, this is probably too soon and I'm off my rocker. I'm may be on my own Island of crazy.. or something. I don't care. There's the three best players in the NBA and then everyone else after that. PG is among that three. That's ****ing badass.

    That is all!

It's pretty hard to argue with that.

When looking at PG's overall game and what he's been doing so far early in the season,
he very well could be one of the best, if not thee best player out there.

Inside, outside, defense, he excels at everything. He's been simply spectacular.

It's beautiful isn't it? Not since Rajah (I wasn't even born yet) have we had a player that could just dominate the other team. Man. Insert this is fun .gif

PG can guard him just like he does to Rose. PG will be the greatest Pacer when his career is over

He's definitely top 5 this season. Obviously you can't put him above Lebron or Durant yet, but it definitely gets subjective after that.

As far as this season is concerned, in no particular order after LBJ and Durant:

Paul George - everyone here knows why.

CP3- having the best season of his career so far. 25/12 with 3 steals is just obnoxious.

I think that most people would have those as their top 4 in this young season. For the 5th player, I'd maybe go Kevin Love. I don't know if he's a top 5 player per se, but he's having a top 5 season so far.

George Karl last night almost took Paul George over Durant because he said that unlike Durant Paul George plays in both sides of the court.

I think Paul George is top 5 right now but CP3 and Howard are up there too.

Could be. If I still feel this way in January I'll start saying something similar, but I want a large body of work before I do. Looking very good, though. Very good.

If he keeps on playing like this, I think its like this:
    1. LBJ
    2. Durant
    3. CP3
    4. Harden
    5. George

You can make a case for George at 4 since Harden plays no defense whatsoever.

I would easily take Paul George over James Harden. When you look past scoring, I don't think it's even that close.

Uhh, ya definitely agree. Harden may be top 4 scorer, but that is it. Not top 4 overall at all.

I might be out there by myself, but I don't even really like Harden's scoring style. If the NBA ever gets serious about fixing their stupid foul calls, he'll be toast. I hate how a defender can be in good position, and he takes the ball and puts it in their chest or under their arm and gets the foul call. That could be called literally everytime someone goes to the basket, but Harden gets it because he's so damn exciting!

The NBA won't fix it, so his crap will always be effective, but it just doesn't do anything for me. I don't think he's solid enough offensively, without relying on bail out calls, to really carry a team.

Defense alone gives PG the edge for me. Harden's defense has dropped a couple notches since he got to Houston.

Based on a snapshot *right* now, the only player I can put above PG without question is LeBron. I don't think PG will ever over-take a healthy, prime LeBron.

But there's no one else out there right now with a better overall complete skillset/package than PG except LeBron. Durant is a better scorer, but I don't think he's on par on defense, rebounding, or passing. CP3 is a tremendous offensive player, but there's no way he even comes close to having the defensive impact or rebounding impact that PG does.

Then you factor in height/size, rebounding, and versatility, and again I just don't think it's close.

Talking about Harden and PG, would anyone really trade PG for James Harden at this point? PG is the complete player of the two. James Harden is an awful defender. I wouldn't even trade PG & Roy for Harden and Dwight.

He's top-10 right now, without question. The others in the top-10 are more proven over a longer period of time, however, so I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt for now.

If PG can continue to play at, or near, his current level into the new year, then yeah, he's definitely top-5, and could be as high as top-3 depending on how much you value defense.

You're right... Harden plays no defense whatsoever. And if he doesn't improve in that facet, he falls way down the list as a player. I don't care what he does offensively and if he pads the stat sheet if he's a big part of allowing 137 points in regulation.

And that's what makes him so good! He can guard Harden, Melo, Rose, Lebron. And PG showed last year that he can play in big moments so we don't even have to worry about that. Usually is the other way around

Datkich just mentioned it, but I saw the commercial last night for it, and I'll throw it in here because I don't think it deserves it's own thread.

NBA Inside Stuff will air a segment with 3D fishing with Paul at his house in Geist Sat. morning at 11.
