You can always just draft for someone else on draft night and then trade the draftee once the new league year starts a couple weeks later. Almost positive that's what we did with the JO for Roy and spare parts swap (remember TJ Ford being our PG of the future?). Once you've drafted a guy he's not a pick anymore obviously, he's a contract, get his signature and ship him wherever. If we had a pick anyway.
Wouldn't that contract still count towards the 2014-2015 Salary Cap and any trade of that pick would have to match salaries?

This is David West, he is the Honey Badger, West just doesn't give a *****....he's pretty bad *ss cuz he has no regard for any other Player or Team whatsoever.

But the question then becomes why did he only get "burn" off the bench if he was any good.
Isn't Scola a good player? Why is he only coming off the bench?
Tonight, all flags must burn, in place of steeples.
Autonomy must return into the hands of the people.

Mike Woodson wouldn't play the guy that many minutes and that is because he is just not that good(same thing is happening with Vogel).
Mike Woodson wouldn't play a number of players that could help the Knicks win games according to most Knick fans like Pablo Prigioni.

So valuable to have reliable shooters off the bench. Will be really useful as a change-of-pace in the playoffs.

Could you elaborate on what this rule is?

Heisenberg: your scenario isn't quite right for this situation, but yes once the 2014 draft has passed we can trade our 2015 draft pick. The Stepien rule forbids trading consecutive future picks, so once the 2014 pick is used up it doesn't count anymore.

It's a long season and injuries happen - Copeland will get his share of minutes this year. I think Copeland's value will come in the postseason. He can play the "Mike Miller" role for this team and give a good outside shot and help spread the floor.
