I don't really disagree with any of what you're saying. Still doesn't change the fact that I want another three point shooter for the playoffs and I don't care if it costs an extra three million.
I don't mind the 3mil as much as I mind the 2 years guarantee, I don't disagree with you that we needed a 3 point specialist I just don't think this guy is that, I guess I rather get guys that have proven that they are 3 point specialists for longer than one year.

Give me Radmanovic, Pietrus and even Kapono for veteran minimum over Copeland any day(note that you are talking about people that can take last second shots no guys that are going to play a lot of minutes).

Rad and Kapono are stiffs with no other skills. Copeland has the ability to drive if he gets jammed at the three point line. Pietrus shot 31% from three last year. I'm not overjoyed about the length of Cope's deal but it took that much to get it done.

This isn't gonna be settled until the playoffs. If Copeland doesn't play for peanuts then by all means please bump this thread, I don't mind being proven wrong. Until then I don't know what to tell you other than I like having him here.

Sounds like a perfectly reasonable objective. Especially if Solo earns some minutes this year.

It's been a handful of games, let's all calm down. I'm sure he'll find a way to eventually work his way into the rotation.

We have Granger and OJ for spreading the floor. Once Scola was traded for Copeland really became a luxury. As much as I want to be all in now I also don't want to give up on both Granger and Lance. The only way I think we keep either one is by moving a player. If we had a deal to move Copeland for an expiring contract before the deadline then I'd be for it. 3 mil is a lot to add to what little space we have under the LT, it might be enough to keep one of our guys.

I would be horrified with any of those guys taking a last second shot or playing a lot of minutes.

One thing's for sure when looking for Copeland... He won't be found in a NYK's uni pulling our defense out to the 3 point line in some future playoff games this season....
Nuntius was right. I was wrong. Frank Vogel has retained his job.

He's on the bench. Didn't you see him over there? Kinda funny how the Pacers made a big pitch to get him to sign only to park his a** on the bench once he got here

Copeland so far appears to be a one hit wonder or at best Troy Murphy's younger brother. If he proves himself in the regular season great. But if he's played sparingly all year I don't want to see him in may or june.

It's going to suck if his $3,130,000 salary next season gets in the way of re-signing Lance.

And Herb Simon will probably get the brunt of it. If they actually balk at re-signing Lance, because they'll be over the LT by less than 5M for one stinking year, keeping the tax relatively low, it's not going to be an easy pill to swallow.
Just because you're offended, doesn't mean you're right.” ― Ricky Gervais.

What if someone from a school of business or management school were to ask, How did you do this? How did you get the Pacers turned around? Is there a general approach you've taken that can be summarized?

    Larry Bird: Yeah, patience.

I agree.. we need to keep Lance. I hope he gives us a discount since we're the reason he got a real chance to shine in the NBA.. but it's a business and I would not blame him if he left for a giant payday,

Yeah, it would be impossible for me to swallow considering how much money this city has given the Pacers over the years. The situation the Pacers are in right now is a unique one that doesn't come along very often. We have the opportunity to do something very special for the next several seasons, but losing Lance for such a relatively small cost would be devastating.

It won't. If it starts getting in the way, we will trade him. Bird will not let Lance get away.

Because he's collected two DNP's in the first two games of the season. Even the rookie Hill got a chance against Orlando.

There are 80 games left and I'll try to remain optimistic, but its' certainly not an ideal start for Copeland.

Hill has little to do with Copeland playing. Hill is a wing, Copeland is a 4/3.

People don't believe in Copeland because they don't like his game in general and/or because he didn't shoot well in preseason.

I didn't say that Hill had anything to do with Copeland playing. All I'm saying is that Vogel gave Hill a chance. He hasn't given one to Copeland yet. If he felt that Copeland had earned it, then he would have figured a way out to give him some clock.

You mean you think he was going to play three power forwards in one game?

    Why couldn't Copeland play SF?

Vogel would have found a way to play Cope if he felt he would help the team win.

Copeland loses almost all his worth as a 3. If he's a 4, then he can play that stretch 4, having one more guy that can shoot the 3. You could have a lot of shooters on the court if Copeland is in at the 4.

This is why Vogel only see's him at the 4.

Why would you EVER play Copeland at the 3 if you could just play Orlando Johnson? Orlando is a dead eye shooter and unlike Copeland he can play defense. Copeland is not considered a 3 because he has absolutely zero value at the 3. He has value at the 4, but then as has been said multiple times, he's behind Scola.

He should be used in a few situations I am sure. But even then keep this in mind, later on in the season, especially in the playoffs if Vogel wants to go small- He's be 10 times better going small with Granger at the 4 along with PG/Lance at the wings. In other words, we just aren't going to see much of Copeland this year and that's not a bad thing.

It's nothing against Cope either, the Pacers just have a lot of solid players that can help out.

Find me on the internets @mattiecolin

    Read it and weep:

When George Hill is above 15% usage we won 73.5% of games. Below 15% usage we won 61.9%
