If money to sign Stephenson is going to be a problem, then the signing of Copeland was a waste. (Personally, I was against the signing of Copeland from the gitgo.)
JMO, but I don't see Granger here next year, so there will be money to re-sign Stephenson.
Based off of my calculations......ignoring that Granger will be gone....I think that it would be difficutl for the Pacers to offer him the full MLE without going over the LT ( we are at $52 mil going into next season without adding in whatever PG24 is earning with a LT at $75.7 mil ).

IMHO, any Team under the LT can offer him the full MLE.....so the Pacers have to be able to make an offer that is more than that to make a competitive offer...probably something around $5.5 to 6+ mil a year. Everything depends on how much PG24 starting 2014-2015 salary will start at. If it starts at $15 mil or less...I think we are okay. But if it's more than that....then we are eating in the amount of $$$ that the Pacers can offer Lance before going over the LT ( which we know the Simons won't do ).

Paul George will legitimately be in the MVP discussion this season. This dude just has "superstar" written all over him like no NBA Pacer ever has.
I'm not quite there, but if he keeps playing like this I will be before long.

Exactly why I avoid the game thread.
Sometimes I can't help myself, but generally I avoid them because if the team isn't playing great, reading the reactions to less-than-stellar or downright-bad moments of a game is like staring into the abyss.

Roy looks like he's running out of gas. He needs to get back into shape.
Wait, what? You think Roy isn't in shape? He basically does nothing but eat right and work out all year round. I didn't think he looked particularly tired last night, either. I don't know what is making you think this.

I enjoy losing my **** in there from time to time. It's fun. I enjoy the game threads and don't put much stock into the negativity. When the team is playing bad, people are upset and say dumb ****.

He has looked out of gas these last 2 games.
It's nothing to worry about, it's just something I
noticed. The big fella will work himself back into
    basketball shape!

Now Ian looked to have been in tremendous shape
last night. He was active all over the place.

    By me ^^

It's why I at times avoid the game day
Thread. Emotions run higher than a school girls in love.
Time and time again the Pacers have proved to be a second half team.
When they want they can crank up the defensive intensity as we saw last night,.

I guess I just disagree with you about that, then, because to me he's seemed fine. I mean hell, he was in shape enough to get 7 and 5 blocks in not-a-ton-of-minutes these first two games (not to mention 16 rebounds in game 1), and I thought if anything during the home opener he looked fairly spry by his standards.

They aren't for everyone, that's for sure. You just have to go into them knowing that people are going to say some outlandish **** that they don't really mean and aren't meant to be taken seriously. There's some funny banter and stuff in those threads. Good comic relief at times.

I'm really impressed with the shape Roy is in this year. The work he put in during the summer is obvious. If you compare how he looks now to his rookie year it's night and day. I didn't catch the game yesterday since I was on a flight but he great in the opener.

Roy has a tremendous chunk of bulk to move around.
His impressive regimen enables him to really go for those blocks and be a freaking monster when he's out there. If he looks gassed occasionally be happy for his effort and happy that we have adequate back up to rest him as needed.

Life is good for the Pacer fans today.

With the Suns, he is now their starting center with Gortat gone which means he gets more PT than he would have in YEARS for the Pacers. All this new found PT surely will work to benefit his development more than playing 3rd/4th center off the Pacers bench.
Without a doubt. I'm just saying he hasn't gotten that YET. It's the very beginning of the season. Extra playing time and development doesn't factor into it until later in the year. This is who he was when we traded him.
Welcome to Pacers Digest! New around here? Here are three tips for making the forum a great place to talk about Pacers basketball.

    • Log in. Even if you want to read instead of post, it's helpful because it lets you:
    • Change your signature options. You can hide all signatures by choosing "Settings" (top right) then "General Settings" (middle left) and unchecking the box "Show Signatures" (in the "Thread Display Options" area).
    • Create an ignore list. I know it may seem unneighborly. But you're here to talk about the Pacers, not argue with someone who's just looking for an argument. Most of the regular users on here make use (at least occasionally) of the "Ignore" feature. Just go to "Settings" -> "Edit Ignore List" and add the names.

    Enjoy your time at PD!

I remember watching Monty Williams a few years ago on NBATV's real training camp and was extremely impressed watching him coach the team. And then was impressed at how his team has played over the past couple of seasons. I think he is one of the best young coaches in the NBA.

Yes Holiday's defense was impressive last night, it was pretty good in Philly though also.
It's weird that several guys here are impressed with Monty as a coach. After our game with New Orleans I was reading Pelican's Roost (used to be called Hornet's Nest) and most people in that forum want him fired. They are accusing him of being unable to make adjustments and they are critical of his substitution pattern. They also criticize his choice to play Lance Thomas (whom they don't consider an NBA player) instead of Al-Farouq Aminu at the 4 after Jason Smith fouled out.

It just goes to show that the hardest critics are the ones closest to you.
Tonight, all flags must burn, in place of steeples.
Autonomy must return into the hands of the people.

At the same time, in all likelihood they have a better feel for there team than anyone on this forum, so even if they are the hardest critics they are also the most informed critics. Back in the days of the coach who must not be named I am sure there were a lot of people outside of Pacer fans who would look at the Pacers and not have a problem with what he did and wouldn't understand why we would be yelling for McBob to play over Murphy. As Pacer fans though we had enough reference to understand why McBob should be playing over Murphy and that he was the worst coach since the creation of life.
