Voted for Hill for two reasons: (1) PG semi-disappeared down the stretch, and (2) Hill hit by far the biggest shot of the game.

PG showed off tons of talent, but like I said in the game thread, it was a lot of hero ball...for three quarters. Then he wasn't anywhere to be found for big stretches in the fourth.
    Huh?

He entered the game with 10:03 remaining in the 4th, down 63-70. He scored 8pts, 4 rebs, and 4 assists in that 10:03.
    http://espn.go.com/nba/playbyplay?ga...88884&period=4

So he was directly/indirectly responsible for 18pts (Two of his assists were 3s. One by GHill. One by Lance) out of their 35 total points.

EDIT: Or what aamc just said.

What if someone from a school of business or management school were to ask, How did you do this? How did you get the Pacers turned around? Is there a general approach you've taken that can be summarized?

    Larry Bird: Yeah, patience.

How much do you think [Plumlee]'s developed since getting to Houston? Did getting there change him in some way?
He's played one game, so there's really no sample to use to make an assessment. He could turn out to be decent or even good, but I'd at least like to see a second game before we start acting like he's anything. I mean, Lou Amundson had a double-double and then 20 points in consecutive games a few years ago. Sometimes decent players have great nights. That doesn't mean they're better than they really are.

And either way, he was unlikely to get the room to develop here.
"And Tottenham do not know what hit them...well I can tell you, it's Theo Walcott!"

My Plumlee avatar isn't just there to annoy people. I believe he can play in this league.

Correction: Plumlee is not in Houston, but with the Suns.

With the Suns, he is now their starting center with Gortat gone which means he gets more PT than he would have in YEARS for the Pacers. All this new found PT surely will work to benefit his development more than playing 3rd/4th center off the Pacers bench.
If it doesn't, then he gives those that didn't want him more fodder to point out he was a bad pick. Or you can say he was a good pick, b/c he got Scola to the Pacers.

In my case, I'm not sorry to see him go, but I'm glad he got the Pacers Scola. I'm truly happy he's in a situation where he has a nice chance to succeed and have a nice career in the NBA.

Case in point why staying away from the game thread is a good idea. A guy struggles (And I agree Hill was AWFUL in the first half) and instead of saying "Wow, this guy is trally struggling" you read "Hill sucks" "We need a real PG". Same for West, arguably the most consistent producer on this team for 2 years...he "gets his contract" and sucks?

    Shameful.

Ah I remember this glorious 21 point game. It was amazing. Ironically enough, it was against the Blazers as well.

I posted this in the other thread, but people really shouldn't focus on Plumlee's scoring and say that it might not translate. His defensive presence in that game is the real story. He controlled the middle, got blocks, defended without fouling, and inimidated the Blazers from attacking the basket after he demonstrated those abilities.

Here is the Blazers shot chart. Look at all the misses with just a few makes.
    http://scores.espn.go.com/nba/shotch...meId=400488888

Portland shooting in the paint by quarter:
    1st - 2-7
    2nd - 6-9
    3rd - 2-6
    4th - 1-5
    Total - 11-27
He really seems to have learned a lot from Roy. Our coaches must have been doing an awesome job at teaching our bigs to go straight up.

Roy looks like he's running out of gas. He needs to get back into shape. Iam has been a god send in the defensive end this year, Breaking up outlet passes, Oops and using the verticallity rule to perfect use.

Iam has been stout so far.

I deleted it, because I didn't want to derail the thread and turn it into a Plumlee convo, but I wish people would watch the games instead of just writing it off because of whatever reason.

Paul George will legitimately be in the MVP discussion this season. This dude just has "superstar" written all over him like no NBA Pacer ever has.
I mean ESPN had him top 10 of their MVP watch from pretty much January on last year.

Top 10 is pretty broad. I'm talking top 3 or 4.

I'm agreeing with you. I'm just saying Paul's been doing this for about 50-60 games now counting the playoffs. The scoring has made another leap but that honestly just seems natural progression at this point.

I think one of my favorite things about him was that about once every two or three games he would try to posterize somebody from about 8 feet from the basket. I don't think he ever made one, but I loved the aggressiveness haha

First, I think it's pretty clear that New Orleans is a very talented young team. They are going to be giving opponents fits all season.
I'm not sure many have mentioned it ( but assume that it's simply implied ), but Anthony Davis is going to be a nightmare for most Teams as a PF. He's super quick and athletic for a PF and a scoring mismatch for anyone he's matched up against. I'm not sure that he's strong enough...for now...to be defending the Center spot.

Either way...I'd hope that the Pelicans go after a true Center ( Ryan Anderson for Asik ? ) so that they can have a huge frontline with Davis at the PF spot.

Oh and one last little nugget. Lance might be the best rebounding guard playing the game. Starting from last year's post-season and including these two regular season games he's averaging 7.5 boards. That's over 21 games. 25% of a full season. Is it just me or is that eye popping? I doubt it stays that high but that's straight bull dog aggression for the ball.
This! Everyone wants to talk about Lance's passing and playmaking and him being a PG. We overlook probably the most important thing he brings to this team, amazing rebounding from the SG position.

I was really impressed with Jrue Holiday, specifically his defense. He applies great ball pressure and I think that was the reason G. Hill struggled early on. I haven't watched much of Holiday, was he this good on D in Philly or do we have Monty Williams to thank for that? Monty is another one I'm impressed with, he is going to be one of the top coaches in the league in a few years I think.

    And seriously, where is Peck??

I remember watching Monty Williams a few years ago on NBATV's real training camp and was extremely impressed watching him coach the team. And then was impressed at how his team has played over the past couple of seasons. I think he is one of the best young coaches in the NBA.

Yes Holiday's defense was impressive last night, it was pretty good in Philly though also.
