And Miami should think about benching Lebron because we all know how many points he scores with the bench ....

Did OKC put the 5 best guys on the floor when they started Thabo Sefolosha over Harden? Did San Antonio put the 5 best guys on the floor when they started Danny Green (or insert every other SG that has started for them) over Manu Ginobili? Fit will always matter.
Yes, fit does matter. I think Lance fits better with the starting unit. Also, the fact is, Manu and Harden closed games. If you want to start the Granger and let Lance finish...then I'm not going to fight it.

Because I do want him back...coming off the bench. Yes, I think if Lance continues to play like this, it's very unlikely Danny surpasses him at this point. I would give it about a 5% chance.
Sorry but it really doesn't seem like you want him back based on your posts. Of course, who am I to judge?

If Lance keeps playing the way he is we have a better chance of keeping Granger, so the nail isn't exactly in the coffin.
I have to agree with this. Lance might price himself out of town. It all comes down to consistency. If he continues this level he is going to be pricey. But the fact is, he has more potential than even this. Actually a lot more.

Find a non-green post where I say I don't want him back. It's just not true. He would be great off the bench for instant offense.

Yeah, and Lance fits great with the starters. Plus he still plays plenty of minutes with bench guys anyway. He's young enough that he can play a ton of minutes and get the best of both words.

I have said several times that the only reason that I want Lance to be a 6th man is to get time with the bench and have the ball in his hands. He is way better when he gets to handle the ball unlike Granger that doesn't need the ball in his hands that much. Of course, Lance is playing amazingly off the ball at the moment so it becomes a moot point. I have never said that I want Lance's role to be diminished. On the contrary, I have clarified that I want his role to be increased.

The reason that I was against Lance starting before the season was that I was afraid that the starting unit would use Lance as our Thabo Sefolosha. But that's not happening so far and Lance's shot seems tremendous so I am very glad with how things are at this moment.

It very well may be that Lance is a better fit with the starters. I think that this group with Lance may work better than with Danny. When you need assists lance gives you assists, same with rebounds and points. Lance is not as one dimensional as Danny.

Let's see. Lance was part of a young core that had the best defense in the league. A unit that was considered perhaps the best in the entire league. Now he's shooting much better and people want to bench him?

Seriously, where is this coming from? Lance is the second best player on this team so far this year.

Here is what I thought before the season the started:

Point #1: Danny Granger is a better shooter than Lance Stephenson.

Point #2: Lance Stephenson is a much better playmaker than Danny Granger.

Those two points led me to the following conclusion:

Danny Granger is better suited as a 5th option while Lance Stephenson is better suited as a 6th man that can score in bunches and create for others.

That's why I wanted Lance to get more time with the bench and he has proved so far that he has been playing great with them. The only issue is that Lance is shooting soooo well that he may cancel point #1. That would make him a better fit for both units.

I really wish that Lance keeps this shooting up and I also wish that Danny shoots that well when he returns.

I am of the opinion that there is no way that Bird lets Lance walk.
Bird may not want to let him walk....but financially, the Pacers may not have a choice.

I suppose that Roy will always be top 2 because you can't put a price tag on the value of his interior defense, not to mention his rebounding. But Roy has played better in the past than he has in the first three games of this season. Lance OTOH is playing by far the best ball of his career and is exploding before our very eyes. Lance has been the second most impressive, put it that way. Paul has been the most impressive since he is knocking on the door of being a legitimate top 5 player in this league.

If Lance plays with Hill he and Paul make up for the lack of assists of George Hill so those three work well together.

I'm pretty sure that Bird is going to trade one or more members of the bench if the danger of losing Lance appears.

Why the heck did we sign Copeland for 3 million/year??? That bum is making as much as Stephenson and CJ Watson COMBINED.

Maybe, depends on his options, but one thing is for sure you can't count on it.

We signed him to be our back-up PF but then the opportunity to trade for Scola appeared and now he is our 3rd string.

I just think he will be a Pacer for atleast the next 4-5 years.

Bird and Stephenson have a great relationship.
