Some people are going to be really surprised that Lance is going to be an impact player this year and will receive league-wide recognition. He is always going to have to work to keep himself in control and hopefully he can master that.

    He's balling right now.

Curious, did we have a chance to extend his contract this past off season??? If we did, I think its a big mistake that we didnt because his value is sky rocketing.

Wife asked me when Danny was coming back. I asked "Danny who?" She said "Danny Granger!". I said "I don't want him back. We have better players."...

Still 8 minutes left. Double his ppg average now...only 2 turnovers which was actually his average last year. Shooting better than 50% again. 67% from 3. There's only a couple more seats left on this bus...
I still haven't seen anything that makes me think he should be the starter at SG or PG. My fundamental preference for the kinds of players you want playing with other players doesn't change. Common sense still tells me if you have 4 good ballhandlers on your team you don't choose to play 3 of them most of the time.

He scored 19 of his 22 points in the second and fourth quarters, where most of his time was spent with the bench unit. How exactly am I being "left off the bus?"

I'm thinking that it had something to do with the guy that's hurt right now, giving Lance an extension would have put the nail on the coffing, they probably did not want to deal with a malcontent.

Is he not shooting good enough to start at SG? The young man is FAR better than Danny Granger was at the same age. FAR better. I think we greatly overestimate Danny Granger's talent. He is nothing close to as good as Paul George and Lance Stephenson, if he maintains this pace, is a better player particularly against an 80% Danny Granger which is the best anyone is going to see from here on out in Indiana.

Forget about who's the better player for a second.

He's scoring when he's playing with the bench unit. Wouldn't you rather he spent MORE time with them, and not less?

I want to put the 5 best guys on the floor as starters...and I want them to play the most minutes. I don't care who scores. I care who wins.

Then stop quoting the numbers he's racking up with the bench as proof that he's better with the starters lol. There's a reason Lance wanted to come off the bench, and you're watching it.

You continue to repeat that ******** about his supposed great shooting. The guy was inefficient from everywhere on the court except within 10 feet of the basket. For a guy that only scores 8 points a game he ******* better well be efficient! Of course he should! But even then, he wasn't as efficient as George Hill, Paul George OR David West.
Not sure who you are responding to...I suppose not me because I never stressed his "great shooting". But apparently that person who stressed it knows something. Lance is well over 50% from both 3 and 2 this year. um...yeh...only after 3 games...

Pacer fans want to see Lance play and develop to reach his potential. I just don't want to see him reach his potential until we have resigned him because we may not be able to afford a really improved lance.

The drop off in defense from the starters if Danny comes in for Lance will be tremendous. Somewhat less on offense, but still significant. But when you start talking about matching up with the other elite teams and postseason comp, I want Lance in there to match against one of their top wings. The guys is capable of shut down defense and when combined with PG and Hibbert, it's flat out nasty defensively.
I'd rather die standing up than live on my knees.

You're grasping. Player of the game isn't enough for you to give him credit? I guess you will be breathing in the exhaust from this bus because the wheels are starting to roll...

This is a really serious issue. Coming off a full year off, even if Danny is pretty healthy there's a likelihood he doesn't fully return to form. Right now, he's not healthy and we don't know when he's even going to be in game shape. Why anyone would consider Granger to start this calendar year, I just don't understand. Let him come in and play off the bench until he's proven that he's healthy. Give it time and if he starts outplaying Lance Stephenson...then you make the switch.

Edit: this thread is about Lance, not Danny...so enough on that debate.

I don't think that we could negotiate his contract earlier. I'm not sure, though. We need someone that knows more about cap space. Count55?

The nail is in the coffin already and Granger is not and will never be a malcontent. Your agenda is seriously annoying.

If Lance keeps playing the way he is we have a better chance of keeping Granger, so the nail isn't exactly in the coffin.

I think the players around the league already know it's coming. The fans are still doubting it. I'm high on Lance but even I'm not certain it's going to happen. It will come down to consistency. His game shouldn't be shooting 3's so much. It has to be a mix and I hope he continues to settle into his game.

Did OKC put the 5 best guys on the floor when they started Thabo Sefolosha over Harden? Did San Antonio put the 5 best guys on the floor when they started Danny Green (or insert every other SG that has started for them) over Manu Ginobili? Fit will always matter.

Because I do want him back...coming off the bench. Yes, I think if Lance continues to play like this, it's very unlikely Danny surpasses him at this point. I would give it about a 5% chance.

I am of the opinion that there is no way that Bird lets Lance walk.
