Attended the game and had a great time.

Paul looks like a completely different player. Comfortable, confident, assertive--definitely loved what I saw there.

Lance did a good job of getting his points with the starters in various ways (2 open 3's, 2 tip ins, 3-4 fast break lay ups, back door cut) with the starters, and really handled the ball and ran a few nice pick & rolls with scola when he Was with the bench.

Roy is a monster on the inside. Enough said there
West was west, but his defense was a bit to be desired.

OJ showed that he should definitely be a rotation player and is one of the more natural scorers on the team.

Made it more difficult than we wanted, but all in all a good opening W

Meh, nothing to see here. Arguably the top player from the state's top college was back for his first pro game. They showed him some appreciative love for his college accomplishments. I think it was a nice gesture. Not much different than how the Colts honored Peyton Manning. As far as fans leaving early, the game was in hand. I don't think people will take the Pacers less serious because of it.
I don't begrudge an IU fan cheering for him when he checks in the game (Not that I'd do that for anyone other than Dale Davis, Rik Smits, Reggie Miller), but I did have a problem with the cheers whenever he scored.

And people gotta stop with the Peyton Manning comparison. Stop comparing a guy who "led" a team to a Sweet 16 loss as his best accomplishment to a guy who revitalized an entire franchise and will be the most beloved athlete in Indianapolis history (Likely won't be topped, was the whole package.)

I never leave a game early, but if it's a 19 point game with 4 minutes to play on a Tuesday, I understand it happens. It was a sellout, crowd was loud, they did their job.

MVP to me was Lance, because he picked up the Hill slack in the first half, something we didn't have last year. He just plain dominated stretches of the game, and his jumper was looking much improved. That's not to say Roy/PG weren't great, they were.

You gotta give it up Ian played pretty good D too. Really just a solid effort from the bench once they found a groove.

Of course they did; they were only there to see Oladipo. My post was very much a joke, btw.

    A great win tonight.

I thought the crowd was way too pro-Oladipo tonight. I get it though, just don't agree with it. I really loved seeing Hibbert and George and swat his stuff all night long.

Lance was amazing, honestly if he plays like this it might end up with us hoisting that trophy at the end of year, but then it also means we will probably lose him in FA.

I really don't understand all the turnovers. David West certain had his bobbles with the ball tonight. Roy should have been more dominant on the offensive end tonight.

I felt like the 2nd unit did not really feed Scola as much as they should have. He had a handful of open looks that never materialized because the ball handler did not pass it out on the PnR. The Bench as a whole was good but their first stint only resulted in like 2 points.

I'm looking forward to tomorrow night to see how this team plays on the road against a highly athletic team. Hoping Ryan Anderson doesn't kill us from 3.

Great game but really all I can say is that I'm glad Roy is okay I was getting a Reggie Wayne flashback.

ETA: I didn't think the crowd was that pro Oladipo at least later on in the game. Sounded like they booed him at times.

In terms of things that need instant improvement:

Turnovers. Specifically, turnovers by our key guys. Hill was fantastic as usual (1 TO) as was Lance. PG/West/Hibbert need to walk around with a basketball the next few days, as they combined for 12 TO's (Well over half of the teams combined TO's).

Otherwise, I can't complain about much.

Starters were great, bench picked it up, built a lead/lost it/and regained it. Great opening win.

I think fan support for Oladipo is only a good thing. Fanbases get knocked for being mindless, not for smartly appreciating people with local ties. It's the kid's first pro game and people can't cheer him finding his legs quickly with a few baskets?

And no, I didn't go to IU...

For me the problem is not cheering for Oladipo. I was very glad to see the standing ovation. It's the proof of a classy fan.

I am just not that glad when I see several Magic jerseys on the crowd when this city's loyalty to the Pacers has been questioned by the media multiple times. Then again, I have no right to judge what anyone will wear when he goes to a game and the game was a sell out which makes me happy.

I don't mind a little applause for a guy like that, it seemed a bit too cheery on tv though, and also Scola I think was coming in the game at the same time so it was kind of weird.

The fans were fine after that, it was mostly boos for him after that.
"It's just unfortunate that we've been penalized so much this year and nothing has happened to the Pistons, the Palace or the city of Detroit," he said. "It's almost like it's always our fault. The league knows it. They should be ashamed of themselves to let the security be as lax as it is around here."

On the topic of who shows up to games and who leaves early. I think it comes to down to this....It seems like people in central Indiana only come out to Pacer games depending on who the opponent is, and often times the people who show for those games are rooting for the other team or players on that team. Listen that might fly when the team sucked and was less than mediocre, everyone wants to see the stars. But for 2 years now we have had the best starting line up in the NBA, and predicted to have one of the best rosters on paper this season too. So it would be nice for the folks to show up to actually you know see the Pacers play regardless of who is on the opposing bench. We have stars now too

The folks behind us, actually seemed kinda knowledge about the team, but the first thing they talked about was wanting to get tickets for the Heat game, and then they *****ed about the high prices for that game. I wanted to say you could always come support the team at a cheaper game, we have really good players too.

    Great game.

Besides the excellent play already mentioned, I was really impressed with CJ. Serious upgrade from last year. When DJ was on the court, I was always nervous. I haven't felt that way yet with CJ.
He's just a way better fit into the system. He's a smarter player, a better defender, and works better with the offense. DJ Augustin was a bad fit, and Watson is the opposite, even if the talent level isn't that much different. I'm pretty pleased with the backups in general. If the bench ends up being Watson-Stephenson-OJ-Scola-Mahinmi, it will be one of the better benches in the NBA.

I just watched a replay of Hibbert's fall. That did not look good at all .

Arron Afflalo fell in the same exact spot a few plays earlier and the sweat wasn't cleaned up. Hibbert's leg hyper-extended when his foot didn't plant correctly.

That's why he stopped playing for Jamaica. He sprained his knee on a wet spot. I hope this is nothing more than a sprained knee.

I get nervous about CJ's passing, but how awesome was it seeing CJ finish a fast break by making a layup? Pretty freaking awesome. HUGE upgrade.
