    Default Pistons/Magic

Turk can't miss right now. Rest of team: different story.

    and Detroit can't hit a 3.

Is it me or is the Piston bench actually getting things done? That's a new one.

We used to have a good bench - until they became our starters and we had no bench.

Turk seems like a good player... I've always wondered what would happen if he played on the Pacers.

Ah, scratch it. We'd probably package him with another player and trade him for cap relief.

    Wow.........****.........

A guy I know was betting on this game. He wanted to go Orlando (he even said Orlando by 2)....and he asked for my advice. I convinced him to go with Detroit.

And what makes it worse - he put $400 on the game.

    I'm screwed.

That's what he gets for asking for advice.

Oh well, 6th game in 8 days, we ran out of gas. Plus Orlando had revenge motivation from friday.

Just start a new winning streak and move on.....

It wasn't about being the team everyone loved, it was about beating the teams everyone else loved.

    Seriously - real screwed.

I have never done sports betting and think it's stupid - and told this guy $400 was way too much if he did have to bet...and ugh...the guilt I feel right now I'm sure will be nothing compared to what I will hear from him soon.

This reminds me of a story.

A few years back, my boss started betting on NFL games, usually by asking my opinion. There was a St. Louis/Tampa Bay game on MNF and the Rams were favored by 2 and the over/under was 45. He asked me what he should do. Now, this was the year after St. Louis beat them in the NFC championship in a 10-6 game, so I told him to definitely take the under. He pressed me on the points, and I said I'd take Tampa, but I wouldn't bet on it. He did. $1000 on the Bucs and $1000 on the under.

So, the day of the game we're down in Tucson on a business trip, so we go to a bar to watch the game. Well, both teams forget to bring their D, which was surprising, since Dungy was still in Tampa, and Lovie Smith was in St. Loui. The score was 28-20 St. Louis at half. So, I've already cost my boss a grand, and am well on my way to costing him 2. Needless to say I was sweating it out pretty heavily, but Tampa came back and won 41-38, in what really was a great game. So, he at least broke even. Scared the **** out of me, though.

Of course, I refused to give him any advice after that.

    My advice:

    NEVER GIVE ADVICE ON BETTING.

    Never.

    I mean it.

Well, if you're a bookie, I guess there's some advantage for you giving bad advice.

As I recall, this was the month after I cleaned up at the Sports Book on a Vegas conference, which lead to him asking for my advice.

Did you take advice before you cleaned up?

    Didn't think so
