Vogel needs to stop telling him to keep shooting.
But that's what he was brought here to do..

Ya I remember a certain poster claimed Paul George's value "will never be any higher". **** was cray back in them days.
I'm trying to find the original thread on that. There are lots of threads referencing it, but I can't find the original. Can you?

Welcome to Pacers Digest! New around here? Here are three tips for making the forum a great place to talk about Pacers basketball.

    • Log in. Even if you want to read instead of post, it's helpful because it lets you:
    • Change your signature options. You can hide all signatures by choosing "Settings" (top right) then "General Settings" (middle left) and unchecking the box "Show Signatures" (in the "Thread Display Options" area).
    • Create an ignore list. I know it may seem unneighborly. But you're here to talk about the Pacers, not argue with someone who's just looking for an argument. Most of the regular users on here make use (at least occasionally) of the "Ignore" feature. Just go to "Settings" -> "Edit Ignore List" and add the names.

    Enjoy your time at PD!

    Wow, I'm stupid

Damn, I was pretty sure that it was a knee-jerk reaction to the GS game but I guess I was wrong.

Thanks for correcting that misconception of mine

Or we could just show them the lineup card. They looked out of whack, in a preseason game, with 4 starters sitting out? The horror!!!!!!!

When they're looking like crap 5-6 games into the actual SEASON, then wake me up, until then...

Amazing that we didn't look strong last night without our four best players.

If following the Pacers and Colts over the years has taught me anything, it's that pre-season = zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Hey, Mark and Slick... who lets just assume to be knowledgeable basketball men.... expressed concern about what they have seen SO FAR this preseason, they weren't talking specifically about the Mavs game. Now if you want to debate a guy that coached the Pacers to 3 ABA titles about what he thinks then write Slick a letter, not me.

So what man? As Nuntius said everyone has his own opinion. It's a message board. You want us to agree with something because an ex player and a legend said it? It might turn out he's right. So what? Season has 82 games. Even if we start poorly, we will have time to turn it around.

I will always get worried about regular season games and not pre-season ones and that applies to any team sport.

He is also a decent passer and can score inside as well (he possesses some nice moves in the post).
There were one or two plays during the Mavs game where Copeland's footwork was on display, and it looked good, to be honest. It made me spontaneously smile/giggle, as it caught me by surprise. Granted, he didn't get the basket either time, but he certainly slipped through a fair bit of coverage. I agree with you, I think he's got some real potential on the inside game.

Ian is a disaster. It's like watching DHB and Fleener trying to catch the ball last Monday but even worse than that.
I watched his facial expressions pretty closely during the game (I was able to see the game from the 9th row), and you can tell his confidence is down. He actually looks relieved when he catches the ball, which is not the world's best sign.

I wonder what the heck is going on there. He was bobbling wide open passes @ midcourt in addition to the usual darts to him under the basket

Gerald Green was brought here to be a shooter too and did not worked out that well, by the way just because he is "a shooter" doesn't mean that he has to jackup any shot he gets, his shot selection is horrible.

The time I made that post I think it was right after the defensive rebound he managed to miss all alone. Instead of just grabbing the ball, he started juggling it only for one Mavs player to get it and score right away.
Even for a preseason game, it was really frustrating to see.

I know. I'm not even saying that they're wrong in their opinion. If you're 0-4, then you're obviously not playing great. All I'm saying is that for me personally, I've watched enough sports (particularly of the Colts and Pacers) to know that the pre-season is absolutely worthless, especially when you're talking about a team that is five months removed from getting to Game 7 of the ECF's. And I'm certainly not going to put an ounce of stock in a game where our four best players from last season didn't even play. That would be like getting upset about an old Colts pre-season game where Manning played one series. Since that game is completely irrelevant, you're basically talking about them playing bad in 3 pre-season games, 2 of them overseas. Meh, wake me up when the real season starts. The guys look fit and ready to go for the real season, which is all that matters.

Michael Jordan thought Kwame Brown was a can't miss player too. I guess great legends are always right, right?

What if someone from a school of business or management school were to ask, How did you do this? How did you get the Pacers turned around? Is there a general approach you've taken that can be summarized?

    Larry Bird: Yeah, patience.

Yeah, he's so frustrated with their play that he decided to give 3 guys rest rather than burn.

Vogel is playing end of the bench guys 15-20mins per night, when in the regular season they won't see 1 min with regularity, and in some cases they might not even be on the roster in a week, and we're going to actually think that these results matter?

I'm pretty sure that if he had the opportunity to play for his NT his confidence would increase. I mean, Ajinca dominated this summer (he is really improved, actually) so I could see Ian playing well too.

The Miami Heat scored 62 pts last night. I think this board would phsyically meltdown if that happened to the Pacers.
