Default Mavs @ Pacers 3rd preseason game

Danny after playing some minutes, is done for today with a strained left calf. Don't know what's the injury like but let's hope it's not something serious.

Lance and Scola have been our best players and Copeland scored a 3 at last. Yayyy!

Ian is a disaster. It's like watching DHB and Fleener trying to catch the ball last Monday but even worse than that.

I watched his facial expressions pretty closely during the game (I was able to see the game from the 9th row), and you can tell his confidence is down. He actually looks relieved when he catches the ball, which is not the world's best sign.

I wonder what the heck is going on there. He was bobbling wide open passes @ midcourt in addition to the usual darts to him under the basket

I'm pretty sure that if he had the opportunity to play for his NT his confidence would increase. I mean, Ajinca dominated this summer (he is really improved, actually) so I could see Ian playing well too.

Copeland's merciless shooting has been awful this pre-season.

That last play with Lance driving down hard to the basket is probably Frank's favourite play. Lance's athleticism makes it a good one.

It's the designated play to close out quarters. I'd love it if we were to use this more often but it would probably lose its mojo.

Copeland still looks like crap, Ian got worse, Scola, Lance and OJ are the only guys doing anything.

He's been really good. His explosiveness and ball handling is a great asset to this team.

This game does make me think he could be very valuable off the bench. Seems much more assertive with these guys than with the starters.

I think he can contribute on either set. Yes he may be "seen" more with the second unit but he can definitely contribute much with the first team too. It's not like he's not tested with them.

    PS 1: Awesome avatar btw.

PS 2: Schiano out. He's horrible.

I agree he can play with the starters obviously, but I wasn't sure I liked him on the bench. Thanks, and I don't even entirely blame Schiano for this mess of a season but he's definitely out.

I know it is preseason so I've been trying very hard not to pass too many judgements but man anyone else seeing the striking resemblance between the current Chris Copeland and last year Gerald Green. Come on Copeland turn it around I had high hopes for you.....sigh but I also had high hopes for Green last year.

Luckily he is only a specialist and signed for two years at a cheap contract.

Also Ian, how can you be so bad at catching a ball with such big hands...

I really don't see it. Green was good in the pre-season while Copeland has been sub-par so far. Their games are nothing alike either.

Not sure how their games are nothing alike they both are bad to subpar at everything but scoring.....they both shoot a very high volume per minute played....and so far they both share the trait of bricking almost every shot they take wearing a Pacer uniform.......and they both might truly earn the nickname Chuck Em.........the current resemblance seems to be there for me.

I just don't agree with that.

Gerald Green is a very athletic wing that can do several things. Offensively, he can run the court, he can drive to the hoop and is a decent 3 point shooter. He is a good rebounder for his position as well and can contest shots with his length and hops (if he is there on time).

Copeland is a very different player. He is an unathletic forward with decent size and length. Offensively, he is a very good 3 point shooter that understands offensive spacing. He is also a decent passer and can score inside as well (he possesses some nice moves in the post). Defensively, he is slow and leaves a lot to be desired on the perimeter but he has decent strength and can push in the post. He isn't a good rebounder for his position, though, due to his lack of athleticism.

They are just nothing alike. Green relies a lot on his athleticism while Copeland relies a lot on his shooting touch. They are just different players.

The only common denominator is that thus far both of them have missed a few 3s.
