They had gay in 2012 and lost in the first round.

They didn't have him the year before and took OKC to 7 in round 2 after beating the spurs.

    I'm sensing a pattern here...

The grizzlies were 3-2 in playoff series without Rudy gay, and 0-1 with him.

Sure they made it to the Western conference finals but how many games they won? and sure Rudy Gay makes a lot of money but there is not way in hell I'm going to say that I rather have old can't do nothing Prince over Rudy Gay hell no.

Memphis has Gay instead of old Prince and they are in the finals, I mean Prince was so great that he was replaced many times by Pondexter.
    So let's see here.

In 2011, Rudy Gay is injured for the playoffs. Memphis beats the 61 win Spurs in the first round and loses to the Thunder in 7.
In 2012, Rudy Gay is their leading scorer. Memphis loses in 7 to the Clippers in the first round, including losing Game 7 on their home floor.
In 2013, Rudy Gay is in Toronto. Memphis makes it to the Western Conference Finals, farther than the franchise has ever made it.

So, based on that 3 year scenario, you can only deduce that Memphis makes the finals last season with Rudy Gay. It's the only obvious assumption.

Tayshaun is terrible, btw. But gay isn't better for the massive salary he eats up. Poor shooter, mediocre defender. At least tayshaun knows what he is.

That's the point. They replaced Gay with two players for half the price.

Oh yeah everybody knew what he was there is a reason why they didn't give a damn to guard him, Zbo was triple team every time and people were destroying him because he did not look good lol

Given that Gay is not a better outside shooter than Prince, that would not have changed. And he doesn't do anything else to make up for it.

You can't have a merely above average player getting Kevin Durant money. You just can't.

Of course I'd rather have Rudy Gay. But at that salary I'd rather have nothing (or Tayshaun).

I agree with that last part but again I'm not talking about salaries but impact on the court that was my argument with that clown, he told me that his stats or whatever he uses made Prince a much better player than Gay when we all know that is bs.

2-3 games into the season, and there are only two unbeatens left in the East: Indy and Philly.

I'll put it this way: if either guy is offered to us for expiring contracts,
I'm running in the other direction.

Yeah. Not really appropriate for the board, imo. Not what we come here for.

    Zach Lowe chimes in....

    I hate Will Bynum.

    Zach Lowe ‏@ZachLowe_NBA 2h

It's early, but MEM appears serious about getting into its offense earlier this season. Also: Will Bynum's D was a horror show last night.

I find it funny that the team everyone thought would be the worst team in the league, myself included, has started the season 2-0. While Miami is 1-2.

Philly is keeping it close against Chicago as well.
